Strasbaugh Software/Computer Maintenance
Version 4.0 - February 1998 12 - 3
SOFTWARE AND CONTROL
COMPUTER MAINTENANCE
OVERVIEW
The chapter below provides details on hardware and software setup of the 6DS-
SP control computer as well as procedures for backup, restoration, and
management of critical files.
The 6DS-SP software control program is installed on the hard disk residing in
the control computer, with replacement copies available on
3 1/2-in. or 5 1/4-in. diskettes as required from Strasbaugh.
The polish recipe files stored by the user on the control computers hard disk are
unique. (See also the Recipe Management Menu section of the Machine Setup
chapter of the 6DS-SP Operations manual for information on storing and
retrieving recipes for customized auto polish process cycles.) Because stored
polish recipes are custom created by the facility process engineer or
supervisor(s), until the user makes a backup copy set on diskettes, such unique
and valuable polish recipes are extremely vulnerable.
To protect unique process information, make a backup each time you save a
new polish recipe.
Assumption - The procedures below are discussed with the assumption that the
reader is thoroughly familiar with the 6DS-SP Planarizer. If not, read the
chapters in this manual on Physical Description, Installation, Mechanical
Description, Control System Description, Power Distribution, and Plumbing
Description, as well as the Operator Functions and Machine Setup chapters of
the 6DS-SP Operations manual, before beginning any procedure.
