each a pp lic ati on of the brakes, however, the lin-
ings w ear an d, af te r a tim e, new li ning s should be in sta ll ed
to provide t he maxi mu m br ak i ng area a nd to av oid damage
to th e br ake dru ms. When th e li ning needs re p lacement ,
the self-adj ustin g feat u re ceases to op erate. When thi s
occurs, t
he br ake peda l fr ee tr avel will in c rease and the
driver is warne d that the brakes need relining. E your '
br akes do not operate sa tis fa ctorily, see yo ur Studebaker /
dealer. .
CLUTCH PEDAL TRAVEL ADJUSTMENT C lutc h pedal f ree
travel is th e distanc e t he pedal moves forward before r~
sistance of the re lease mecha nis m is felt. W hen th e f r~e
trave l is greate r tha n one inch (25,4 mm.) or less than
one-half inch (1 2, 7 mm.) adjustm ent should be ma de by
your Stud e baker dealer.
THE HILL HOL DER (on c ars so eq uipped) should»
checked and a djust ed if nece ssary whenever the clutch
pedal. travel is ad ju ste d.
F AN BELT ADJUSTMENT To insure e ffi cient fa n, water
pum p and gene ra tor operation , it is imp ortan t t hat the
fan belt IS not over-tightened. Any read j ust m ent should
be
perform ed by a Stu d ebaker dealer.
FRONT WHEEL CAM BER ADJU ST MENT Camber adjust-
ment is pr operly set at the fa ct ory ,0 a greater on the
driver's .s ide of th e c ar th an on the other side. Should a
front end a lignment check re veal need of camber read just-
