CHARGING PRECAUTIONS
It
is advisable
to
observe
the
following
pr
ecautions
when

harg
ing
a b
at

ery
at
home
or
. elsewhere.
During
the
charging
an
d

a

rt
time
immedi
at
ely
there
after,
the
chemic
al
re
action
in
the
b
attery
gi
ves off
hy
dro
gen
gas
in
sufficie
nt
quant
ities as
to
be
explosive.
When
w
orking
near
a
batter
y b
eing
ch
arged,
or
ju
st
af
t
er
it
has
been
charged,
it
is
im
portant
th
at no
flame
or
spark
have
an
oppor
tun
ity
to
ig
ni
te
the
hydrogen
gas. To
pr
event possibili
ty
of
a
static
ele
ctricity
sp
ark's
c
ausing
such
an
explosion
with
th
e
batt
ery
in
the
c
ar,
it
is well
to
grou
nd
the
ca
r elec
tr
ically by
means
of
a m
etal
bar
or
chain
ru
n
ning
from
the
c
ar'
s f
rame
or
bum
per
to
the
gro
und.
When
th
e c
ha
rgin
g
or
recently
cha
rged
ba
ttery
is
out
of
th
e c
ar,
it should be placed
where
it
will
not
be
exposed
to
flame,
spa
rk,
or
sta
tic ele
ctrici
ty.
