SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS
Engine Tune-Up
Occasionally your serv icem an will recommend an engine
tune-up. The frequency of tune-ups depends a lm ost enirely
on the amolint of dr iv ing and the type of driving you do.
When you purchase a tune-up, we recommend that you
re qu est at least the following operations:
1. Check the mani fold heater v al ve for free oper a ti on.
2. Cle
an and a dju st spark p lu g s; insta ll with new
gaske ts.

3. Clean
carburetor air cleaner.
4,. Clean fuel pu mp bowl and str aine r; in stall with
new gasket.
5. Clean i ns ide of distr i butor cover, ca ble termina ls,
a
nd sockets.
6. Ti gh ten cy lin d er head cap screws to recom mended
ten sion.
7. Adjust fan belt .
8. Remove and clean car buret or choke the rmostatic
co ntrol. Replace wi th new gasket and adj us t, if
necessa ry.
9. Check
and set ign i tio n tim in g.
10.
Adjust carburetor idle scr ew wi th eng i ne at nor-
mal o perating temp e rat ures.
11. Adjust idle st op sc rew to p roduc e e ngi 1l e speed
corresponding wi th 8 miles (13 km .) per hour
road speed in h ig h gear.
