Overview

This document describes the Sulion MARA ceiling fan, models 2182582, 2182599, and 2182605, providing comprehensive information on its functions, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Sulion MARA ceiling fan is designed for high energy efficiency and quiet operation, providing a significant volume of air circulation. It features a direct current (DC) motor, which is the latest in fan design technology. This DC motor offers several advantages over traditional alternating current (AC) motors:

  • Energy Efficiency: The DC motor can save up to 70% of energy compared to traditional AC motor fans.
  • Silent Operation: The DC motor uses a stabilized current, effectively reducing operating noise.
  • Low-Heating Operation: The efficient power supply to the DC motor keeps its operating temperature below 50°C, resulting in better cooling and increased durability compared to standard AC motors.
  • Comfort: The fan includes a six-speed remote control, offering more speed options than traditional AC motors and a wider range of comfort levels.

The fan also includes a lighting system with E27 fittings, supporting up to 2x40W bulbs.

Usage Features

The Sulion MARA fan is operated via a remote control, which provides several functions:

  • Fan On/Off: Dedicated buttons to turn the fan on and off.
  • Light On/Off: Dedicated buttons to control the fan's light.
  • Speed Control: Six-speed settings to adjust airflow.
  • All Off: A single button to turn off both the fan and the light.
  • Summer/Winter Mode: A switch on the remote control (or on the fan body) allows selection of rotation direction:
    • Summer Option (Downward Airflow): Creates a refreshing effect by pushing air downwards.
    • Winter Option (Upward Airflow): Pushes warm air away from the fan area near the ceiling, helping to distribute heat and potentially reducing heating costs.
  • Timer Function: Allows users to set a shutdown schedule (1H, 4H, 8H). Pressing any other button after selecting a timer setting will cancel the schedule.

Synchronization of Multiple Fans:

The remote control can be synchronized with multiple fans. To do this:

  1. Ensure any fans not intended for synchronization are turned off at the wall switch to prevent accidental pairing.
  2. Turn on the power (wall switch) to the fans you wish to control.
  3. Within 15 seconds, press and hold the fan button on the remote control for 5 continuous seconds.
  4. A "beep" sound indicates successful connection, and the equipment should function normally.
  5. To finalize synchronization, turn off the fans using the wall switch or automatic switch, then turn them on again.

Important Safety Precautions:

  • Electrical Disconnection: Before any electrical work or cleaning, ensure the main power supply is disconnected by removing the fuse or disarming the protective switch.
  • Qualified Installation: Installation must be performed by a certified electrician in accordance with local electrical regulations. The installer should test all fan functions before leaving.
  • Child Safety: The appliance can be used by children aged 8 and above, and by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience/knowledge, if supervised and instructed on safe use and associated hazards. Children should not play with the device, and cleaning/maintenance should not be performed by unsupervised children.
  • Mounting: The mounting bracket must be securely fastened to a ceiling structure capable of supporting at least 30 kg. Screws must be threaded into the ceiling by at least 30 mm. If mounting to a ceiling junction box, ensure the fan support is sufficiently secured to prevent loosening or rotation. The choice of attachment system and quantity of fasteners is the installer's responsibility.
  • Blade Clearance: The fan blades must be at least 2.3 meters above the floor. Maintain a minimum clearance of 30 cm between the fan blades and any walls or obstacles to prevent collisions. Greater clearance improves airflow efficiency.
  • Grounding: The fan's ground wire must be connected to the installation's earth network to prevent electrical hazards.
  • Power Supply: Do not connect the fan motor's power supply to any regulating elements or potentiometers, as this can cause malfunction or damage to the motor. A circuit breaker ensuring omnipolar disconnection with a contact separation in all poles (Category III overvoltage conditions) must be installed for electrical connection. Use only the provided fan controller.
  • Gas Installations: Do not use these fans simultaneously with gas installations in the same room.
  • Obstruction: Do not insert anything that could hit the rotating blades, as this can cause injury, damage the blades, or unbalance the unit, leading to vibrations and wobbling.
  • Post-Installation Check: After installation, ensure all fastenings are secure and tightened to prevent noise from loose elements.
  • Periodic Fastening Check: Due to fan movement, some fastenings may loosen. Check all fastenings at least twice a year and retighten if necessary.
  • Damaged Power Cable: If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its after-sales service, or similarly qualified personnel to avoid hazards.
  • Indoor Use Only: The fan is suitable only for indoor use.
  • Recycling: Electrical products should not be disposed of with household waste. Recycle packaging at designated collection points. Contact local authorities or suppliers for recycling advice.

Maintenance Features

Maintenance and Cleaning:

  • Connection Check: The fan's natural movement can cause connections to loosen. Check mounting bracket connections, fastening parts, and blade accessories twice a year to ensure they are securely fastened.
  • Regular Cleaning: Clean the fan periodically to maintain its appearance. Do not use water for cleaning, as it can damage the motor, wood, or cause electrical shock.
  • Cleaning Material: Use only a soft brush or a lint-free microfibre cloth to avoid scratching the finish. The veneer is sealed with a lacquer layer to minimize discoloration or loss of shine.
  • Lubrication: The fan does not require oiling, as the motor contains permanently lubricated bearings.
  • Warranty Void: Failure to follow these maintenance instructions will void the equipment warranty.

Troubleshooting (Remote Control Malfunction):

  1. Connections: Ensure all connections are correctly made.
  2. Batteries: Verify that the remote control has fresh batteries.
  3. Switches: Ensure all switches (main and isolation) are on.
  4. Resynchronization: The receiver and remote are factory-paired and do not typically need re-pairing after installation. Resynchronization is only necessary if the remote control malfunctions. If in doubt, contact Sulion before attempting resynchronization.
    • Caution: Before resynchronizing, if there are other ceiling fans in the same or another room that you do not want to sync, ensure they are turned off at the wall switch. Otherwise, they might also synchronize and cannot be unsynchronized once paired.

Troubleshooting (Balancing Problems):

  • Blade Balancing Kit: The fan package may include a blade balancing kit. If excessive wobbling is observed, use this kit following the instructions provided on the Sulion website or via the QR code.

Warranty Information:

  • Manufacturer's Warranty: Covers actual manufacturing defects for up to 3 years from the date of sale. Minor complaints like normal motor noise are not covered. Excessive noise or wobbling due to loose components (insufficiently tightened screws) or deformed blades from aggressive cleaning are not covered. Regular tightening and non-aggressive cleaning can prevent these issues.
  • Controller: The warranty is void if the fan is installed with a wall controller or solid-state dimmer. Only the supplied remote control should be used.
  • Installation: The fan must be installed by a certified electrician. Incorrect installation can be dangerous, expensive to repair, and voids the warranty. The fan is designed for indoor use only; exposure to water or humidity voids the warranty.
  • Wobbling: All ceiling fans may wobble during operation. A movement of a couple of centimeters is acceptable and does not indicate malfunction or risk of falling if correctly mounted. The fan has a secure mounting system with steel brackets and ball joints to prevent vibrations to the ceiling structure. Note that even identical models may exhibit slightly different wobbling, which is considered acceptable and not a manufacturing defect.
  • Increased Noise at Night: The warranty does not cover increased perception of fan noise at night when the surroundings are quieter. Power supply fluctuations at night may also increase noise, which is not considered a malfunction.
  • Lighting System: Except for extremely rare manufacturing defects, the fan's lights are not covered by the warranty. Noise and vibrations may be greater when the lighting is on (e.g., a loose light diffuser causing a slight buzz). Non-aggressive cleaning and regular checks of securely fastened elements can prevent these disturbances. Glass light diffusers are warranted until distributor warehouses and are subject to verification during shipping.
  • Warranty Duration: Sulion guarantees proper equipment function and possible repairs/spare parts for manufacturing defects for up to 3 years from the date of sale. The warranty for LED diodes is 5 years, and for the DC fan motor, it is 8 years. Sulion is not responsible for improper use.
