APPLICATION WARNING
It is always important to assess how the
operation of any Heat Recovery Ventilator
(HRV) may interact with vented combustion
equipment (i.e. gas furnaces, oil furnaces,
wood stoves, replaces. etc.)
Never install an HRV in a situation where
it’s normal operation, lack of operation, or
partial failure may result in the back drafting
on vented combustion equipment such as
water heaters, furnaces and replaces
DO NOT ATTEMPT INSTALLING THIS HRV WITHOUT FIRST

Why is there persistent condensation on my SummerAire SHRV130RD windows?
    • K
      Kyle StarkAug 11, 2025
Persistent condensation usually occurs due to improper adjustment of the dehumidistat or an improper ventilation rate. Adjust the dehumidistat to the correct RH reading (see operation manual) or to a lower setting, and check its operation; replace it if defective. Consider installing a dehumidistat in the living area. To address ventilation, ensure the HRV is running continuously, increase the fan speed, and balance the system.

What to do if the SummerAire SHRV130RD speed doesn’t change when selecting different speeds?
    • U
      usmithAug 17, 2025
If the fan speed doesn’t seem to change, it might be due to an improperly installed duct system or incorrect voltage. Ensure the motor amp draw doesn’t exceed the nameplate rating; increased static (i.e., dampening) may be necessary. Measure the line voltage and the voltage to the motor to determine if it’s correct, and confirm that your voltmeter is reading correctly. All voltages must be measured with the duct system installed. The correct voltages are: Low speed 97 volts, Medium speed 105 volts, High speed 120 volts. If the voltages are correct, then the duct system static is too low.

What to do if there is water in the bottom of my SummerAire SHRV130RD Fan?
    • L
      Lisa JimenezAug 21, 2025
If you find water in the bottom of the HRV, the drain lines might be obstructed, or the HRV heat exchange core may not be installed correctly. Check the water drain connections and ensure the water drains properly from the pan(s). Also, check the orientation label on the front of the core and position the core correctly. The HRV may also not be level.

What to do if the damper motor on my SummerAire Fan is not actuating?
    • C
      Calvin PittmanAug 27, 2025
If the damper motor isn't actuating, check the electrical panel for a tripped circuit breaker or blown fuse. Also check the HRV. Reset the circuit breaker or replace the fuse. You may be required to call a certified electrician. Also, check the door interlock switch and replace the door switch, if necessary.

Why is the SummerAire SHRV130RD airflow improperly balanced?
    • W
      Wendy SheltonSep 1, 2025
Improperly balanced airflow can be caused by a dehumidistat control set too low, the lifestyle of the occupants, or a ventilation rate that's too high. Balance the HRV. Set the dehumidistat to a higher set point. If ventilation rate is too high, humidity may have to be artificially added using a humidifier.

What to do if there's no power indication at the SummerAire SHRV130RD Fan's on/off switch?
    • T
      Tiffany GarciaNov 6, 2025
If there is no power indication, check the power supply first. Also, make sure the door safety switch is engaged. If the issue persists, the door switch or power switch might be defective. To check a defective door switch, remove the main access door and control cover plate, apply power to the HRV, and close the door switch. Test the two leads on the back of the switch; one should have a reading. Close the door switch and check the other lead with a meter and a known neutral. If there's no reading, replace the switch. To check a defective power switch, power up the HRV, close the door safety switch, and turn the power switch to 'on'. Place one lead of a voltmeter on a known neutral and the other on the terminals on the back of the switch, one at a time. The voltage reading should be line v...
