HEAT RECOVERY VENTILATORS
INSTALLATION AND OWNERS OPERATING MANUAL
MODEL SHRV2500DD
DO NOT ATTEMPT INSTALING THIS HRV WITHOUT FIRST
READING THIS ENTIRE MANUAL
APPLICATION WARNING!!
CAUTION
Before
installation, consideration must be given to how
this system will operate if connected to any other piece of
mechanical equipment, i.e. a forced air furnace or air
handler, operating at a higher static. After installation, the
compatibility of the two pieces of equipment must be
confirmed by measuring the airflow’s of the Heat
Recovery Ventilator (HRV) using the balancing procedure
found in this manual.
It is always important to assess how the operation of any
Heat Recovery Ventilator may interact with vented com-
bustion equipment.NEVER install a Heat Recovery
Ventilator in a situation where its’ normal operation
(including defrost function), lack of operation or partial
failure may result in the back drafting or improper func-
tioning of vented combustion equipment!

What to do if LED control panel of SummerAire SHRV2500DD Fan does not illuminate?
    • S
      stephaniepachecoJul 31, 2025
If the LED control panel on your SummerAire Fan doesn't light up when you power it on, the issue might be a defective transformer. First, check the secondary voltage; it should be 120VAC. If it's not, replace the transformer. Alternatively, the main control transformer could be defective, in which case you should replace it.

What to do if one fan motor fails to start in SummerAire SHRV2500DD Fan?
    • S
      Susan WatkinsAug 6, 2025
If one of the fan motors in your SummerAire Fan fails to start, it could be due to a defective motor contactor or a defective overload protector. Replace the defective component, referring to the parts list to ensure you get the correct type for your motor application.

Why both dampers do not change in SummerAire SHRV2500DD?
    • R
      Roberto MillerAug 12, 2025
If both dampers in your SummerAire Fan aren't changing, it could be due to a defective control relay or a defective Main Control Board. Check if the SPDT damper motor control relay responds when the Select switch on the Main Control Board is cycled; if not, replace the relay, ensuring capacitors are positioned across the leads to the damper motor windings on the relay. If the relay responds, but there's no power output (24vac during fan on cycle) to the relay coil, replace the control board.

What to do if defrost cycle is inactive in SummerAire SHRV2500DD Fan?
    • L
      Lori JamesAug 18, 2025
The defrost cycle in your SummerAire Fan might be inactive because the cold supply air temperature is too warm (above -3 deg C). If the air temperature is below –3 C, disconnect the leads at the temperature sensor and splice the leads going to the control box together. Power up the unit; it should cycle through one run cycle (approximately 25 minutes), and then a defrost cycle should initiate. If it does, replace the sensor; if it does not, replace the control.

How to fix cold supply damper closed during fan on in SummerAire SHRV2500DD?
    • A
      Antonio BeardAug 25, 2025
If the cold supply damper closes while the fan is on in your SummerAire Fan, it could be due to a defective damper motor or improper wiring. Replace the damper motor if it's defective. If the motor is improperly wired, refer to the wiring diagram and reverse the wires to the damper motor at the SPDT relay in the control box.
