What causes outer booms to slam back to field position after encountering an obstruction on Summers Paint Sprayer?
    • B
      bellkathleenSep 12, 2025
If the outer booms slam back after hitting an obstruction, the restrictor check valves might be missing or improperly installed. Ensure one-way restrictor check valves are installed in the outer boom fold cylinder, with the slot up in the blind end and slot down in the rod end. Missing rubber bumpers can also cause this issue, so replace them. Lastly, the cylinder mounting springs may be out of adjustment; adjust the cylinder-mounting eyebolt so the springs are preloaded and the adjustment is centered. Check that the boom unfolds and folds completely and look for worn parts.

Why don't outer booms self-return to field position after encountering an obstruction on my Summers Paint Sprayer?
    • S
      Sherry HernandezSep 12, 2025
If the outer booms do not self-return after hitting an obstruction, it may be due to missing or improperly installed restrictor check valves. Ensure the one-way restrictor check valves are installed in the outer boom fold cylinder with the slot up in the blind end and slot down in the rod end. Also, the accumulator may not be functioning correctly. Check the accumulator for gas charge and replace it if the charge has escaped. Excessive wind or travel speed can also prevent self-return, so slow down.

Why are inner and outer boom sections not lined up with each other on my Summers Paint Sprayer?
    • M
      Melanie StephensSep 12, 2025
If the inner and outer boom sections aren't aligned, the stop bolts may be out of adjustment; adjust the stop bolts and lock nuts. Additionally, a loose or missing rubber bumper can cause misalignment, so replace the rubber bumper if needed. Finally, check for broken or missing stop bolts and repair or replace them.

Why do booms lead or lag too much in relation to the cart on my Summers Paint Sprayer?
    • D
      David BookerSep 9, 2025
If the booms lead or lag excessively, the spring clevis adjustment is likely incorrect. Adjust the spring clevis so that when the spring is compressed, the coils never touch. Also, the eye bolts may be out of adjustment. Proper boom lead adjustment occurs when the spring clevis is compressed and there is zero boom lead.

What to check if LEFT & RIGHT TIP LIFT & MAIN LIFT circuits on Switch Box don’t operate on Summers Paint Sprayer?
    • T
      Thomas PierceSep 9, 2025
If the LEFT & RIGHT TIP LIFT & MAIN LIFT circuits on the Switch Box don’t operate, it's likely due to an open circuit on the Control Grip Plug on the side of the Switch Box. Tighten the plug to complete the circuit, or replace the missing plug.

What if my Summers Paint Sprayer booms spray even though all switches are in the OFF position?
    • L
      Linda MillerSep 8, 2025
If the booms spray even when all switches are off, the power to the console was likely shut off before the Master/Boom switches were turned off. The boom valves are in the OPEN position and cannot close until they receive power. Turn the Power Switch to the ON position to resolve this.

Why is my spray pressure falling off when boom valves are turned on in my Summers Paint Sprayer?
    • T
      Tammy TaylorAug 23, 2025
The spray pressure may drop when boom valves are activated on your Summers Paint Sprayer due to several reasons. The main line strainer (screen) might be plugged, so flush the screen with cleaner and blow it off with compressed air. The supply line to the pump could be restricted, so check for debris in the main suction line. The speed reading might be incorrect, so check the speed calibration number or recalibrate the speed. Also, make sure the hoses are plugged in. The Norac filter might be plugged, so replace the filter. The sensor might not be working, so clean the sensor filter. Finally, if the sensor isn't ticking, and the harness tests okay, replace or calibrate the sensor.

What does it mean when the Summers Paint Sprayer shows a Stady Alarm/Rate 0.0 Pressure too high?
    • M
      mccannjuanSep 6, 2025
A steady alarm with a rate of 0.0 and high pressure indicates there is no flow signal to the Controller. To resolve this, first select the VOL/MIN key to verify a zero-volume reading. Then, confirm the correct METER CAL number. Check the wiring for possible breaks or kinks, especially at drawbar/cab articulation points. Verify the meter impeller can spin freely. If the problem persists, replace the flowmeter transducer or the entire flowmeter.

What does it mean when the Summers Paint Sprayer shows a Steady Alarm/Rate 0.0 Pressure too low?
    • S
      shawn85Sep 5, 2025
A steady alarm with a rate of 0.0 and low pressure indicates there is no speed signal to the controller. Verify a zero-speed reading by selecting SPEED. Confirm the correct SPEED CAL number and check the speed sensor for functionality.

What could cause my Summers Paint Sprayer to be unable to maintain spray rate at usual speed?
    • S
      Sarah PattersonSep 4, 2025
The inability to maintain the usual spray rate is caused by a restriction in the plumbing. Please refer to the solutions listed above for 'Not getting application rate for a given pressure setting'.
