Overview

This document describes the SUNNY Self-Contained Emergency Light, SG Series (Models: SG209CD2, SG209CD4, SG212CD3), a device designed to provide illumination during power outages.

Function Description

The emergency light is a self-contained unit that automatically turns on when the main power supply is interrupted. It features an internal battery that charges when connected to a 230VAC power source and powers the lamps during outages. The device includes status indicators (LEDs) and testing buttons for monitoring its operational status and performing self-tests. It can be installed on a leveled surface or hung up.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Power Supply: 230VAC.
  • Battery: Internal, rechargeable.
  • Operating Temperature: Not to exceed 40 degrees Celsius.
  • Storage Temperature: Under 25 degrees Celsius.
  • Emergency Lighting Duration: The unit is designed to supply lighting for at least 120 minutes during a "Battery Fail" condition, or for the duration tested with a remote control.
  • Dimensions:
    • Front View: Approximately 210.0 mm (width) x 215.0 mm (height).
    • Side View: Approximately 70.0 mm (depth) x 215.0 mm (height).

Usage Features

Installation:

  1. Place the unit on a leveled surface or hang it securely to prevent accidents.
  2. Plug the unit into a 230VAC power socket. The emergency lamp will briefly turn on for about 2 seconds before turning off, indicating initial power-up.

Status Indicators (LEDs):

  • AC (Orange LED):
    • Continuous orange light: Unit is receiving normal AC power.
    • Off: Unit is not receiving AC power.
  • On/Test (Green LED):
    • Continuous green light: Automatic battery test system (Auto Test) is turned off (via remote).
    • Slow blinking green light (every 2 seconds): Automatic battery test system (Auto Test) is turned on (via remote).
    • Fast blinking green light (every 1 second): Unit is performing a battery test (Auto Test).
  • Charge/Fail (Red LED):
    • Continuous red light: Battery is charging.
    • Off: Battery is fully charged.
    • Blinks three times every 15 seconds ("Battery Fail"): Emergency light supplied lighting for less than 120 minutes, or less than the time tested with a remote control.
    • Blinks four times every 15 seconds ("Charging Fail"): Battery charging system is not charging, charger is not cutting off, charging circuit cuts off, or battery charge decreases too quickly.
    • Blinks five times every 15 seconds ("Lighting Fail"): System encounters an abnormality in the lighting system (e.g., loose cables, broken bulbs).

Testing Features:

  • Off/Test Switch (on unit): Pressing this switch will turn on the emergency lamp for about 5 seconds before turning off. This also allows turning off the lamp and system when power is off or the unit is unplugged. When plugged in, it tests device availability.

Automatic Operation:

  • During power outages, the emergency light automatically turns on.
  • Once power is restored, it automatically turns off and begins charging the battery.

Maintenance Features

Battery Maintenance:

  • For optimal operational life, the battery should be charged every 3 months if the unit is stored.
  • If the "Charge/Fail" LED blinks four times (Charging Fail) or the battery is not fully charged after prolonged charging, the battery may need replacement.
  • If the "Charge/Fail" LED blinks three times (Battery Fail), the battery may be deteriorating or past its operational lifetime.

Troubleshooting:

  • No power/AC LED off: Check 230VAC power supply, plug/socket connection, and AC.230V fuse.
  • Emergency light doesn't turn on after power outage: Check for faulty lamp, loose circuit wiring, or blown DC fuse.
  • Emergency light only turns on for a short time: Battery may not be fully charged, or it's past its operational lifetime/deteriorated. Charge until "LED Charge" indicator turns off, or contact customer service for battery replacement.
