FlowClear 10000
GB
Biological lter with integrated UVC unit (Ultra Violet Clarier). Suitable for ponds up to 10,000 litres.
The water enters the lter through the inlet. It then ows past the 11 Watt UVC unit, thus reducing algae growth while at the same time destroying harmful bacteria.
After the UVC unit, the Matala progressive lter mats are placed one behind the other in the lter, from coarse to ne. In this way, sh waste and oating debris are easily and
eectively trapped and ltered out of the water.
The last compartment holds the cassette with the substrate mix. This mixed substrate guarantees a high level of biological activity in the lter, while at the same time absorbing
harmful substances and reducing oensive odours.
The water then ows back into the pond via the outlet. By means of the sludge discharge (silt trap under the inlet) the trapped waste and debris can easily be drained o. (Cross-
section, drawing A.)
Maintenance
Always switch o the power supply before carrying out any maintenance or repair work on the unit!
- If your pond water is heavily polluted, the lter mats will need to be cleaned every day during the initial ltering phase. Subsequently they should be rinsed out with tap
water at least once a month (depending on the degree of pollution). The substrate mix should be cleaned twice a year in a bucket of pond water (do not use tap water!).
- Open the sludge discharge regularly to prevent waste and debris accumulating in the bottom of the lter.
- The UVC unit should be cleaned twice a year. If algae growth increases, the quartz glass tube around the PL-lamp should be cleaned. This tube can be simply removed using
a coin. Remove any calcium deposits with a suitable cleaning agent. Take care not to scratch the tube. The PL-lamp should be replaced after 8000 hours’ use (approx. 1 year).
Do not touch the bulb with your bare hands.
Installation
Select the place where you want to t the lter. The lter must be installed close to the pond and in an easily accessible position for maintenance. The inlet of the lter must be
above the water level of the pond so that the lter cannot overow.
1. (Photo B) Fit an adaptor (a) with a nut (b) on the outlet. The nut (b) must be on the inside of the lter. A washer (c) must be tted both on the inside and the outside of the lter. Make
sure that the washer (c) abuts properly and is not jammed in the screw thread.
2. (Photo A) Screw the sliding valve (e) on to the sludge discharge.
3. Remove the substrate (supplied with the module) from the plastic bag and place it (in the black substrate bag) in the substrate cassette (f).
4. Fit the UVC housing (g) with the quartz glass (h) on the inlet (i) on the inside of the lter. Cut o the transparent hose connector (j) to the required diameter. Screw the transparent hose
connector (j) together with a washer (k) on to the outside and tighten by hand. The hose from the pump must be attached to this hose connector (j).
5. Place
the cover on the lter.
6. (Photo
C) Fit the lamp (l) in the lamp holder (m) and position the integrated electrical section (n) on top of the UVC housing. Make sure that the washers (o) are correctly positioned.
Then
tighten the electrical section with the nut (p). Make sure that the cover (n) is screwed straight into the UVC housing without crossed threads.
7. Start
the pump and lter and check the system for leakage.

UVC PL-S Lamp: 11 Watt
UVC after 5,000 hours: 85%
Pond water volume: approx. 10,000 L (stocked with Koi sh: approx. 5,000L pond water volume)
Recommended pump capacity per module: max. 3500 l/h
Inlet adaptor: 1½” (40x32x25 mm)
Outlet bore: 50 mm

Choosing the right pump.
It is important to remember that a pump’s rate of ow diminishes in direct proportion to the height dierence that the water has to overcome. The rst step when choosing
a pump is therefore to consider the dierence in height between the water surface of your pond and the place where the lter is located. In case of doubt, consult your pond
specialist.
Tip
If your pond pump has a greater capacity than needed, use a two-way valve (Photo D).
