CONSUMER INFORMATION
CATALYTIC CONVERTER
DESCRIPTION
The muffler on this motorcycle contains a
catalytic converter. This catalytic converter
works to reduce the volume of toxic sub-
stances output in exhaust gases.
Inappropriate adjustment or erroneous han-
dling may cause incomplete combustion
(misfiring), resulting in the temperature of
the catalytic converter rising to extreme lev-
els. Take care, as this may damage the cata-
lytic converter or other related parts.
Although the catalytic converter does not
require any special inspections or mainte-
nance, please perform specified engine
inspections and maintenance.
NOTICE
Improper motorcycle operation can
cause catalyst or other motorcycle dam-
age.
To avoid damage to the catalyst or other
related components, you should take the
following precautions:
• While the motorcycle is in motion, do
not operate the ignition switch or
engine stop switch, or turn off the
engine, except in an emergency.
• Do not try to start the engine by push-
ing the motorcycle or by coasting
down a hill.
• Do not start the engine with the spark
plug wire removed during diagnostic
testing.
• Do not idle the engine unnecessarily
or for long periods.
• Do not use all of the gasoline in the
fuel tank.
