Questions and Answers

Why are captions delayed on my Sylvania 13 inch SRC2213W TV VCR Combo?
    • M
      Michael SanchezSep 9, 2025
Captions that are delayed a few seconds behind the actual dialogue are common for live broadcast. Also, most captioning production companies can display a dialogue to a maximum of 220 words per minute, so selective editing is used if a dialogue exceeds that rate.

Why does video or color fade when copying a video tape on my Sylvania TV VCR Combo?
    • K
      Kathryn BlackwellSep 12, 2025
If the video or color fades in and out when making a copy of a video tape on your Sylvania TV VCR Combo, it is likely because you cannot copy a copyrighted video tape due to copy guard protection.
  • C
    Christopher LutzSep 13, 2025
Why are there misspelled captions on my Sylvania 13 inch SRC2213W?
    • R
      Roger HancockSep 13, 2025
If your Sylvania TV VCR Combo is showing captions that are misspelled, you are likely watching a live broadcast, and spelling errors made by the closed captioning production company may pass through uncorrected. A prerecorded program will not show any misspelled words because of the normal time available for editing the captions.
  • P
    Patricia Franklin MDSep 15, 2025
Why are captions missing from a closed captioned TV show on my Sylvania 13 inch SRC2213W TV VCR Combo?
    • B
      Brittany OnealSep 15, 2025
Captions may be missing from a closed-captioned TV show on your Sylvania TV VCR Combo because broadcasters may at times use a time compression process to speed up the actual program so that additional advertising time can be given. Since the decoder cannot read the compressed information, captions will be lost.
  • M
    Madeline NicholsSep 16, 2025
Why are there no captions on my prerecorded video tape using Sylvania 13 inch SRC2213W?
    • J
      Jessica Ryan DDSSep 17, 2025
If your prerecorded video tape does not show any captions, even though the tape box mentions it being closed captioned, the video tape was either an illegal copy or the tape duplicating company accidentally left out the captioning signals during the copying process.
