Description
The SY038 is a versatile amplifier accepting signals from a range of wheatstone bridge
type sensors.eg; load cells, pressure sensors, torque transducers and some
accelerometers. It is enclosed in a compact DIN rail mounting case.
The amplifier has switch selectable full scale input sensitivities, from 0.25 to 4.4mV/V. This
covers the vast majority of available load cells. It has the ability to drive up to 4 x 350 ohm
load cells, or 2 x 120 ohm load cells.
The SY038 can be ordered to run off a range of power supplies. Options are 17 – 30VDC,
110 – 240VAC or an automotive option of 10-16VDC
Load cell amplifier as shipped
standard DC powered Unit AC Powered version (only available in IP65 wall mount case)
SY038 is supplied in different out put versions
Voltage version +/- 10V
Voltage version +/- 5V
Current version 4-20mA
Features
i. The load cell amplifier has switches used to select mV/V from 0.25 to 4.4mV/V in 16
steps (Double sensitivity HS version also available ,see figure 2)
ii. Amplifier has very high stability and accuracy on voltage and current out
iii. Unit is protected against reverse polarity connection as well as having a very high
immunity to interference
iv. Unit is supplied as standard in a compact DIN rail mount case
Typical applications
The SY038 can be used with a maximum of 4 x 350Ω load cells, and depending on the
application a 4-20mA output or +/-10V output signal will be obtained. In order to suit user
requirements the unit can be set up for any input as illustrated in fig. 2 using switches on
the reverse of the unit.
To get a bipolar output from a current version you can set the zero as 12mA so the max
negative value from the load cell will be 4mA and the max positive value will be 20mA. To
achieve this the scaling switches will need to be changed as the full scale range will be
double that of the unipolar setup. For example, if you had it set for 0 – 2mV/V, the bipolar
version would be +/- 2mV/V, ie 4mV/V.
