Maintenance
1 During all service operations involving knives and cutting discs the tractor engine
must be stopped, the hand brake activated. If the machine has been raised, the safety
devices S must be fitted to the lifting cylinders on the left and right hand sides.
Re-tighten the bolts of the cutting discs and knife holders on your new machine
before starting and again after about 1 hour of operation. The same applies
when any service work is done, for example replacing knives.

- 3 Knives - cutting discs
Check daily that the bolts of the cutting discs and knives are tightened, and that
cutting discs, cones and knives are undamaged. If the rotating parts are unbalanced,
vibrations could occur causing damage to the cutterbar. Damage of this kind annuls
the guarantee.
Keep the cones C on the right hand and left hand side clean, clean them inside 2 - 3
times per season. If the cones are unbalanced, vibrations could occur causing damage
to the cutterbar. Damage of this kind annuls the guarantee. Check the universal joint,
- see page 51.
Damaged knives H must be replaced at once. If the knives are worn on one side only they can be
interchanged by using the knives from the next disc in order that the knives may be used on both
sides. Check that bolts J and nuts G are O.K. - if not they must be replaced.
Note: The knives have to be in the position shown F, to remove the bolts.
Only use original spare parts. The machine's cutting discs rotate at 3000 r.p.m., -
never make a compromise with safety.
Operate with safety, - note the following:
• Fit the cutting discs in pairs as shown (90
o
displacement of knives).
• Always use LOCTITE 242 on the bolts of the cutting discs K.
• Tightening torque as shown. Ensure that mating faces are clean and free from dirt.
• Note: The outer discs on the right and left hand sides are different from the rest - see spare parts
list for the machine.
