Overview

This document describes the Tadano GR-1300XL-4, a 130-ton (118.0 metric ton) capacity hydraulic rough terrain crane.

Function Description

The GR-1300XL-4 is designed for heavy lifting operations in rough terrain environments. It features a multi-section boom and a bi-fold lattice jib for extended reach and versatility. The crane is equipped with a hydraulic system for various crane functions, including boom elevation, telescoping, and slewing. It incorporates advanced control systems, such as the Tadano electronic LOAD MOMENT INDICATOR (AML-E2), to ensure safe and efficient operation. The carrier is designed for mobility in challenging terrains, offering multiple steering and drive modes.

Boom:

  • Type: 6-section, single cylinder telescoping with pinning system.
  • Length: 40.0' - 183.7' (12.2 m - 56.0 m)
  • Construction: Round box type with 7 sheaves, 15-3/4" (0.400 m) root diameter at boom head.
  • Extension speed: 143.7' in 410 seconds.
  • Elevation: -1.5° to 81.5° by a double-acting hydraulic cylinder with holding valve.
  • Raising speed: 20° to 60° in 28 seconds.

Jib:

  • Type: 2-stage bi-fold lattice jib with 5°-40° hydraulic offset.
  • Length: 33.8' (10.3 m) or 59.1' (18.0 m).
  • Sheave: Single sheave, 17-5/16" (0.440 m) root diameter.
  • Storage: Stored alongside the base boom section.

Auxiliary Lifting Sheave (Single Top):

  • Type: Single sheave, 17-5/16" (0.440 m) root diameter.
  • Mounting: Mounted to main boom head for single line work (storable).

Wire Rope:

  • Type: Non-rotating 3/4" (19 mm) 7x35 class.

Hook Blocks:

  • 100 ton (90.7 metric ton): 7 sheaves with swivel hook block and safety latch.
  • 7.9 ton (7.2 metric ton): Weighted hook with swivel and safety latch.

Counterweight:

  • Weight: 43,500 lbs (19,800 kg), self-removable.

Slewing:

  • Motor: Hydraulic axial piston motor through planetary slewing speed reducer.
  • Rotation: Continuous 360° full circle slewing on ball bearing turn table at 1.3 min⁻¹ {rpm}.

Hydraulic System:

  • Engine: Cummins B6.7, direct injection diesel, 6 cylinders, 4-cycle, turbo-charged and after-cooled.

    • Max. Torque (Nm): 850 (1,152) at 1,500 rpm.
  • Transmission: Electronically controlled full automatic, torque converter driving full powershift with driving axle selector. 5 forward and 2 reverse speeds.
  • Travel Speed: 12 mph (19 km/h).
  • Gradeability (tanθ): 57% (at stall).
  • Axles: Front and rear full floating type, steering and driving axles with planetary reduction.
  • Steering: Hydraulic power steering with 4 modes (2-wheel front, 2-wheel rear, 4-wheel coordinated, 4-wheel crab).
  • Brake Systems:
    • Service: Air over hydraulic disc brakes on all 4 wheels.
    • Parking/Emergency: Spring applied-air released brake on input shaft of front axle.
    • Auxiliary: Electro-pneumatic operated exhaust brake.
  • Tires: 29.5R25✩✩ (OR) or 29.5-25 38PR (OR).
    • Air Pressure: 94 psi (650 kPa) or 87 psi (600 kPa) respectively.
  • Outriggers: 4 hydraulic, beam and jack outriggers with integral holding valve.
    • Extension Lengths: Min. 9' 6-3/16" (2.9 m), Mid. 18' 1/2" (5.5 m), Mid. 23' 11-3/8" (7.3 m), Max. 25' 7" (7.8 m) center to center.
    • Float Size (Diameter): 1' 10-1/2" (0.57 m).

Usage Features

  • Operator's Cab: 20° tilt, left-side, 1-man type, steel construction with sliding door access and safety glass windows. Features include powered door window, shatter-resistant windshield and roof glass, tilt-telescoping steering wheel, adjustable control lever stands, 3-way adjustable operator's seat, engine throttle knob, foot-operated controls (boom elevating, boom telescoping, service brake, engine throttle), hot water cab heater and air conditioning.
  • Control System: Multi Function Display with DEF level gauge and fuel consumption monitor. Dash-mounted instrument panel with starter switch, 12V power outlet, USB port, drive selector switch, parking brake switch, steering mode select switch, power window switch, pump engaged/disengaged switch, slewing brake switch, telescoping/auxiliary winch select switch, outrigger controls, free slewing/lock slewing selector switch, and air conditioning control switch.
  • Safety Features: Anti-Two Block device (pendant type over-winding cut-out with audio-visual warning), automatic speed reduction and slow stop function for boom elevation and slewing, 360° positive slewing lock for pick and carry and travel modes, manually engaged in cab.
  • Working Area: Both crane and drive operations can be performed from one cab mounted on the rotating superstructure. The AML-E2 system monitors outrigger extended length and automatically programs corresponding rated lifting capacities.
  • On-Rubber Operation: The crane can operate on rubber, either stationary or creep mode. On-rubber lifting with jib is not permitted, and maximum permissible boom length is 93.2 ft. (28.4 m). Creep operation requires slow travel (less than 1 mph) and limited movement (not more than 200 ft. in any 30-minute period).

Maintenance Features

  • Filtration: BETA10=10 return filter is full flow with bypass protection, located inside the hydraulic reservoir, and accessible for easy replacement.
  • Air Cleaner: Dry type, replaceable element.
  • Oil Filter: Full flow with replaceable element.
  • Fuel Filter: Full flow with replaceable element.
  • Engine Over-run Alarm: Included for engine monitoring.
  • Telematics: Machine data logging and monitoring system with HELLO-NET via internet (availability depends on countries).
  • Easy Access: Control lever stands can change neutral positions and tilt for easy access to the cab.
  • Cylinder Bleeding: Suspension-lock cylinders may require bleeding if they contain air to ensure full rated lifting capacities.
