80 Operating in conventional mode
1 Press the PTT key to transmit. If background scan
is active, your radio will now call the currently
selected channel.
2 If standard scan is active and there has been no
recent activity on the channel, then the channel
that is called depends on the way your radio has
been programmed. The possible options are:
—your radio calls a predetermined channel e.g.
your dispatcher,
—your radio calls the channel where activity was
last detected, or
— your radio calls the last free channel.
3 When the called party responds, proceed with
your conversation.
Changing the background scan group
assigned to a function key
You can change the background scan group assigned
to the function key programmed for group scanning or
for scanning/nuisance delete.
1 Press Menu and select Advanced > Set scan
key.
2 In the Set scan key menu, scroll through the list of
background scan groups until the group you
want appears.
3 Press Select.
The message Scan key scans new group
appears on the display.
The next time you activate background scan, the
new group will be your background scan group.
