DUAL ZONE OUTDOOR PIR
MS-12TE & MS-12FE
INSTRUCTION MANUAL
We appreciate your purchase of a TAKEX passive infrared sensor. This sensor will provide long and dependable service when properly
installed. Please read this Instruction Manual carefully for correct and effective use.
Please Note: This sensor is designed to detect intrusion and to initiate an alarm; it is not a burglary-preventing device.
TAKEX is not responsible for damage, injury or losses caused by accident, theft, Acts of God (including inductive surge
by lightning), abuse, misuse, abnormal usage, faulty installation or improper maintenance.
The dual zone outdoor PIR is an automatic switch which uses passive infrared sensor to detect infrared (body
temperature) emitted from a human body. (Suitable for indoor/outdoor)
1) This sensor is equipped with an "AND" detection and pulse count system.
2) The AND detection system will issue an alarm signal only when detection occurs
in both horizontal and downward zones simultaneously.
3) The sensor is equipped with many features such as
¬ Alarm output control depending on the illuminance of the surrounding area.
Á Output time delay switch setting.
Combining the sensor with other devices such as a video monitoring system to display and record the
presence of an intruder.
The sensor can be combined with an audible or visual warning device to annunciate the presence of visitors.

Why does my Takex Security Sensor activate when no one is there?
    • T
      Theresa BennettAug 11, 2025
Your Takex Security Sensor might be activating without a person present due to several reasons. It could be unstable power voltage, something moving in the protected area, rapid temperature variations, a large electrical noise source nearby, intense sunlight reflection, improper sensor installation, a detection distance set too long, or cars/motorbikes triggering the sensor. To resolve this, stabilize the power voltage, remove any moving objects or address temperature variations, relocate the device away from electrical noise, adjust the area setting and range to avoid undesirable detections, remove reflective objects, ensure parallel sensor installation, and readjust the detection distance.

How to fix a completely inactive Takex Security Sensor?
    • W
      walter92Aug 19, 2025
If your Takex Security Sensor is completely inactive, it could be due to several reasons: no power supply, a broken wire, improper voltage, substances shielding the cover (including glass), improper area adjustment, insufficient warm-up time, or incorrect sensor angle in AND mode. To fix this, ensure the correct power supply or replace any broken wires, remove any shielding substances, readjust the protection area setting, allow for a one-minute warm-up time after powering on, and readjust the sensor angle so that the detection area is covered by both the upper and lower sensors when in AND mode.

What to do if Takex Security Sensor alarm LED lights, but connected device is inactive?
    • M
      Michele WhiteAug 27, 2025
If the alarm LED on your Takex Security Sensor is lit but the connected device remains inactive, the issue might stem from a poor contact connection, a broken wire, a short circuit, a non-working contact output, or a problem with the connected device itself. Check the wiring and connections, use a tester to verify the contact output terminal, and ensure the connected device is operating normally.

Why is my Takex Security Sensor sometimes inactive?
    • V
      vpotterSep 3, 2025
If your Takex Security Sensor is sometimes inactive, it could be due to improper area adjustment, a cover soiled with dust or water, or an area covered by both upper and lower sensors that is too small when set at AND mode. To resolve this, readjust the protection area setting, clean the cover with a soft cloth, and readjust the sensor angle.
