6.2.6. Cloud Point Detection
This step is only applicable to cloud point testing modes (“CP” or “PP/CP” displayed in the test
mode field).
The cloud point is detected when the intensity of light measured at the bottom of the specimen cup
drops due to clouding. Cloud point detection occurs at 0.1
o
C interval or integer values of
temperature as the temperature drops. When 1.0
o
C interval is selected, the reported cloud point is
the next lower integer. For example, MPC reports cloud point -13.2
o
C in 0.1
o
C interval, and then
-14.0
o
C in 1.0
o
C interval.
After cloud point detection, will be as follows:
Test mode PP/CP The result flashes in the cloud point temperature field (see Fig. 15) (

) while
pour point detection continues.
Test mode CP The result flashes in the current specimen temperature field (see Fig. 16) (

).
The RUN lamp is extinguished and a buzzer sounds intermittently for 8 seconds.
