      If your Tanaka Trimmer engine starts but cuts out straightaway, consider these possibilities: * The fuel tank may be empty or the fuel level is low. In that case, fill the fuel tank with the correct fuel mix (25:1-50:1). * The fuel tank may contain old fuel. Replace it with new fuel. * The choke lever may be in the START position. Set the choke lever to the RUN position. * Air may have gotten into the fuel system. Reconnect the fuel pipe or joint. * There may be an ignition failure. Replace with a new spark plug.

      Abnormal vibration in your Tanaka Trimmer could be due to: * The cutting attachment not being properly installed. See “Installation of cutting attachment”. * A loose handle, handle bracket, or other fastening part. Check and tighten them. * Grass wrapped around the gear case. Remove the grass.

      If the engine of your Tanaka Trimmer is running but the blade does not move, it may be because grass is wrapped around the gear case. Remove the grass and dirt.

      There are several reasons why your Tanaka Trimmer engine might not start: * The fuel tank may be empty or have low fuel. Refill it with the correct fuel mix (25:1-50:1). * The fuel may be old. Replace it with new fuel if it has an offensive odor. * The spark plug may be wet due to too much fuel. Disconnect the spark plug and let it dry, pull the starter handle 5 or 6 times to remove surplus fuel, reattach the spark plug, and set the choke lever to the RUN position before pulling the starter handle again. * The fuel filter could be clogged. Try cleaning it. * The fuel pipe might be bent or disconnected. Ensure fuel flows smoothly. * The spark plug may be dirty. Clean or replace it. * The electrode gap may be too big.
