A higher setting such as -40 dB means that:
During digital SYNCHRONIZED mode recording, a relatively loud
input signal will be required to trigger the start of recording.
During A-TRACK mode recording, a fairly silent passage-with some
background hiss-will trigger an increase to the next track number
on the disc being recorded.
A lower setting such as -60 dB means that:
During digital SYNCHRONIZED mode recording, a relatively quiet
input signal will trigger the start of recording.
During A-TRACK mode recording, a very silent passage-with little
or no background hiss-will be required to trigger an increase to
the next track number on the disc being recorded.
ABOUT DIGITAL SYNCHRONIZED RECORDING
In Digital Synchronized Recording mode, recording automatically
begins when signal from an external source is received. Recording
automatically ends when the signal from an external source ends.
Digital synchronized recording is only possible when recording
through a digital input from an external source such as a CD player
or MiniDisc deck.
Note that the INCREMENT LEVEL setting (discussed in the previous
section of this manual) affects how loud an input signal must be in
order to trigger recording.
ABOUT RECORDING FROM YOUR TURNTABLE
This section explains how to connect your turntable to the DA-5900
for recording. These guidelines apply ONLY when recording from a
