Preliminary Set-up

Set the Tape SPEED Selector Switch to the desired
recording speed; HIGH for 7-1/2 ips or LOW for 3-3/4
ips.
. Thread a blank tape on the deck.
. Initially set the MIC and LINE Level Controls to mini-
mum.
. Set the OUTPUT Level Controls to approximately the
2 o'clock position.
. Set the OUTPUT Selector Switches to SOURCE.
. Set the REC EQ and REC BIAS Switch to match the
tape. See the chart on page 3.
. Set the REC MODE Switches to ON.
. Verify the proper connections between the recording
source and the tape deck’s Input.
. Prepare the tuner, amplifier or other source as instruct-
ed in its instruction manual.

Apply AC Power to the deck and other components.
Begin recording from your source, i.e., start the phono-
graph record, tune in the FM radio station, talk into
the microphones, etc.
. Adjust the MIC or LINE Level Controls (depending on
the source) for the desired recording level, generally
not exceeding O VU.
Depress the REC and >» Buttons.
Change the OUTPUT Switch to TAPE, and adjust the
OUTPUT Level Controls so that the VU Meters indi-
cate the same relative level when switching the OUT-
PUT Selector Switches back and forth between TAPE
and SOURCE.
. Depress the STOP Button. Rewind the tape to the
beginning.
. Depress the REC and PAUSE Buttons.
. Start the source again. Begin recording by depressing
the >» Button.
. Set OUTPUT Switches to the TAPE position. This
off-the-tape monitoring shows you the actual quality
of the recording. Any problems with the tape or tape
deck will be revealed.
Record to the end of the tape. Then interchange the
reels and record side 2 of the tape by repeating the
recording procedure.

Vorbereitungen
1. Geschwindigkeitswahlschalter auf die gewiinschte Ge-
schwindigkeit einstellen: HIGH fiir 19cm/sec oder
LOW fiir 9,5cm/sec.
2. Ein leeres Tonband einfadeln.
3. Stellen Sie zunachst die Mikrofon- und LINE-Eingangs-
pegelregler auf Minimum,
4. Stellen Sie die Ausgangspegelregler ungefahr auf Position
“2 Uhr".
5. Ausgangswahlschalter auf SOURCE (Tonquelle) stellen.
6. Vormagnetisierungs- und Entzerrschalter entsprechend
dem verwendeten Band einstellen. Siehe Tabelle Seite 3.
7. Aufnahmefunktionsschalter auf ON stellen.
8. Uberpriifen Sie die Verbindung zwischen der auf-
zunehmenden Tonquelle und den Eingangen des Ton-
bandgerats.
9. Bereiten Sie das Rundfunkgerat, den Verstarker oder
die betreffende Tonquelle entsprechend ihrer Be-
dienungsanleitung fiir die Aufnahme vor.
Bedienung
1. Netzspannung fiir das Tonbandgerat und die anderen
Komponenten einschalten.
2. Beginnen Sie mit der Aufnahme der Tonquelle d.h.
lassen Sie die Schallplatte laufen oder wahlen Sie einen
UKW-Sender oder sprechen Sie ins Mikrofon etc.
3. Steuern Sie mit den Mikrofon- oder LINE-Eingangs-
pegelreglern (je nachdem, was fiir eine Tonquelle Sie
gewahlt haben) den gewiinschten Aufnahmepegel so
aus, da& die VU-Meter-Anzeige nicht tber 0 VU hin-
ausgeht.
4. Aufnahmetaste und Wiedergabetaste driicken.
5. Ausgangswahlschalter auf TAPE umstellen und die
Ausgangspegelregler so einstellen, dal’ die VU-Meter
beim Umschalten der Ausgangswahlschalter von
TAPE auf SOURCE und zuriick den gleichen Signal-
pegel anzeigen.
6. Stoptaste driicken. Das Band bis zum Anfang zurtick-
spulen.
7. Aufnahme- und Pausentaste driicken.
8. Tonquelle noch einmal einschalten. Aufnahme durch
Driicken der Wiedergabetaste beginnen.
9. Ausgangswahlschalter auf TAPE stellen.
Diese Mithdrkontrolle zeigt Ihnen die tatsachliche Ton-
qualitat des Aufnahmesignals und erméglicht auRerdem
das sofortige Erkennen von Storungen auf dem Band
oder Problemen mit dem Gerat.
10. Bespielen Sie das ganze Band. Dann drehen Sie die
Spulen um, um auf die gleiche Weise auch die zweite
Seite zu bespielen.
