Handling precautions
Only compact discs having this mark can

DIGITAL AUDIO
Observe the following precautions to enjoy the same
outstanding sonic performance from your Compact Discs
for many years.
*Hold compact discs by the edges so the surface is not-soiled
with fingerprints.
© Be carefui not to scratch the surface with fingernails or other
sharp objects, particularly when inserting and removing discs
from their cases.
Do not bend the disc.
Do not use record cleaning sprays or static electricity preven-
tion liquids.
¢Do not wipewith benzine, thinner or any other solvent. If the
surface is soiled, wipe gently with a soft, damp (water only)
cloth.
When wiping discs, always move the cloth directly outward
from the center of the disc, not in a circular motion as with
standard phonograph records.

(In compact discs, circular scratches along a line of pits are
more likely to cause errors than straight scratches across many
lines of pits.)
®if the disc is brought from a cold environment into a warm
room, moisture may form on the disc. Wipe this off with a soft,
dry, lint-free cloth before using the disc.
®Do not dry discs with a hair dryer.
®Do not write on the label side with a bal!-point pen, hard pencil
or other writing utensil.
®Handie compact discs with care. Fingerprints, dirt and
scratches can cause skipping and distortion.
Storage precautions
Be sure to store discs in their cases to protect them from dust,
scratches and warping.
Do not place or.store discs in the following places:
1) Locations exposed to direct sunlight.
2) Humid or dusty locations.
3) Locations directly exposed to a heat outlet or heating
appliance.
4) In the glove compartment or rear ledge of an automobile.

@ HANDLING PRECAUTIONS FOR OPTICAL PICKUP
The laser diode in the optical pickup may break down due to potential difference caused by static electricity of
clothes or human body.
So, be careful of electrostatic breakdown during repair of the optical pickup.

1. Do not give excessive shock to the optical pickup 1 est PP
because it is of extremely precise structure. Ld Meee ;
2. To prevent the breakdown of the laser diode, an anti-
static shorting pin is inserted into the flexible board.

When removing or connecting the short pin, finish the
job in as short time as possible.
3. Take care not to apply excessive stress to the flexible
board. (FPC board)
4. Do not turn the variable resistor (laser power adjust-
ment). It has already been adjusted.
Be sure to short this position

e Grounding for electrostatic breakdown prevention
1. Human body grounding
Use the anti-static wrist strap to relieve the static
electricity from your body.
2. Work table grounding
Put a conductive material (sheet) or steel sheet on the
area where the optical pickup is placed, and ground the Wrist strap
sheet.

Caution:
The static electricity of your clothes will not be grounded
through the wrist strap. So, take care not to let your
clothes touch the optical pickup.

@ INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE OIL (Part No. SZZ0L31)
The container contains 6g (approx. 3ml) of oil. Since =
one application (one shaft) uses 0.05mi of oil.
How to Use
(1) Remove the guide shaft in the traverse deck from
the optical pickup and clean off any dust from the
guide shaft.
(2) Apply one drop of the SZZ0L31 to the tip of the
guide shaft.
(3) Hold the guide shaft so that its oiled end touches Optical pickup
the optical pickup and insert it into the bearing Cg
while rotating it slowly. TT
(4) After securing the guide shaft, move the optical ———S
pickup by hand several times to the left and right
to distribute the oil on the guide shaft. Guide shaft
