Teel Self-priming Pool/Spa Pump

Troubleshooting Chart

Reduced capacity or 1. Pump must be primed. Make sure that 1. See priming instructions, Page 5

discharge pressure pump volute and trap are full of water

2. Suction piping leaks 2. Make sure there are no leaks in suction piping.

Make sure suction pipe inlet is well below the

water level to prevent pump from sucking air

3. Suction trap gasket is defective 3. Replace suction trap gasket

4. Pump is trying to lift water over 10’ 4. Make sure pump is not trying to lift water more

than 10’

5. Suction pipe diameter is too small 5. Make sure suction pipe is at least 1

⁄2” in diameter

Clogged pipe, trap, 1. Suction trap is clogged 1. Clean trap and strainer

or impeller 2. Impeller is clogged 2. Check impeller for clogging. Follow steps 1 through

Electrical problems 1. Pump running too slowly 1. Check voltage at motor terminals and at meter

while pump is running. If low, see wiring

instructions or consult power company. Check for

loose connections

2. Pump may be running too hot 2. A.Check line voltage; if less than 90% or more

than 110% of rated voltage, consult a licensed

electrician

B. Increase ventilation

C. Reduce ambient temperature
