Overview

The Tefal ActiFry 2 in 1 is an innovative kitchen appliance designed to offer a healthier and more convenient way of cooking a variety of meals. This device focuses on providing nutritious and delicious food by minimizing the use of fats, while preserving the natural qualities and flavors of ingredients.

Function Description:

The core function of the ActiFry 2 in 1 is to cook food with a minimal amount of oil, typically just one spoonful for up to 1.5 kg of chips. It utilizes a patented technology that ensures food, like chips, becomes crisp and fluffy. The "2 in 1" aspect refers to its ability to cook a main course in the bowl and a side dish in the tray simultaneously, offering versatility for daily meals.

The appliance features a transparent lid (1) that allows users to monitor the cooking process. Inside, it has a detachable bowl (9) with a high-resistance ceramic coating, and a mixing paddle (5) that gently stirs the food to ensure even cooking. The 2in1 spoon (3) is designed with both an oil side (3a) and a salt side (3b), helping users to measure precise quantities and reduce salt intake without compromising taste.

The control panel includes an LCD screen (14) for displaying cooking time and settings. Users can adjust cooking time using the '+' and '-' buttons (16) and start/stop cooking with the dedicated button (17). A specific button (15) activates the 2in1 function, allowing selection of different food types for the tray, such as meat, fish, or desserts, each with pre-set cooking times that can be adjusted.

Usage Features:

The ActiFry 2 in 1 offers two primary modes of operation:

  1. Using the bowl on its own: This mode is ideal for cooking larger quantities of a single dish, such as chips or vegetables. To use, the lid (1) is opened, the 2in1 spoon (3) and tray (4) are removed. The bowl handle (10c) is lifted until a "CLICK" is heard (fig.4), and the bowl is removed. Food is placed in the bowl, ensuring not to exceed the "MAX" level marker (7). The recommended amount of oil is added using the 2in1 spoon (fig.11). The bowl is then placed back into the appliance, the lid is closed, and the handle is pushed back (fig.12). After connecting the power cord (19) and switching on the appliance (18), the cooking time is set using the '+' and '-' buttons (16), and cooking is started (17). The maximum programmable cooking time is 60 minutes. Opening the lid pauses cooking, and the appliance will enter stand-by mode if the lid remains open for 2 minutes.
  2. Using the tray on its own: This mode is for cooking smaller items in the tray, without using the bowl. The lid (1) is opened, the 2in1 spoon (3) is removed, and the tray handle (10a) is fitted onto the tray (fig.6). Food is placed on the tray, again observing the "MAX" level marker (fig.22). The tray is then placed back into the appliance, the handle is folded away, and the lid is closed. After powering on, the cooking time is adjusted, and the type of food for the tray is selected using the 2in1 function button (15), which cycles through options like meat, fish, and desserts (fig.23, fig.24). Cooking is initiated with the start button (17).
  3. Using the 2in1 (bowl + tray): This is the most versatile mode, allowing simultaneous cooking of a main dish in the bowl and a side dish in the tray. The process begins by preparing the food in the bowl as described above, ensuring the paddle is in place and oil is added if required. The appliance is powered on, and the total cooking time (for the bowl) is set. Then, the type of food for the tray is selected using the 2in1 function button (15), and its specific cooking time is adjusted. The cooking for the bowl starts first. When the appliance beeps, indicating it's time to add the tray, the lid is opened, the prepared tray is inserted (fig.25), the lid is closed, and the start button is pressed again to resume cooking.

The appliance includes a reminder beep for when to add the tray during 2in1 cooking. It also has an automatic shut-off feature after 10 minutes of inactivity when not in use.

Maintenance Features:

Cleaning the ActiFry 2 in 1 is designed to be straightforward, with most detachable parts being dishwasher safe.

  • Cooling: Always allow the appliance to cool down completely before cleaning.
  • Disassembly: The lid (1) can be removed by pressing the lid opening control buttons (13) and pushing the grey latches outwards (fig.2). The bowl handle (10c) is lifted to remove the bowl (9). The mixing paddle (5) is removed by pressing its unlocking button (6) (fig.8a). The detachable filter (12) can also be removed (fig.28).
  • Cleaning Parts: The bowl, paddle, spoon, and tray are dishwasher safe (fig.9) or can be cleaned with a non-abrasive sponge and washing-up liquid.
  • Appliance Body: The inside and outside of the main body (11) should be cleaned with a slightly damp sponge. It is crucial never to immerse the appliance in water.
  • Fat Splashes: If cooking fatty foods on the tray, it is recommended to clean fat splashes from the internal areas of the blower (marked by black arrows in fig.30) using a slightly damp sponge after each use.
  • Drying: All parts must be thoroughly dried before reassembling them.
  • Utensils: To maintain the ceramic coating of the bowl and tray, avoid using metallic utensils.

The appliance is designed for long-term use, and for environmental protection, it contains valuable materials that can be recovered or recycled. Before discarding, the battery from the timer should be removed and disposed of at a local civic waste collection center. Approved Service Centres can assist with proper disposal of old appliances.
