How to Use Your Alarm Panel:

The physical alarm panel serves as a central control point for your security system.

Arming Your System:

  1. Accessing Arming Options: On the panel's main screen, touch the icon in the center to access the arming options.
  2. Sensor Status: The panel displays the status of various sensors:
    • Open: Indicates a sensor (e.g., door, window) is open.
    • Closed: Indicates a sensor is closed.
    • Motion Active: Indicates motion has been detected.
    • Idle: Indicates no activity from the sensor.
    • Unreachable: Indicates a sensor is not communicating with the panel.
    • Tampered: Indicates a sensor has been tampered with.
  3. Quick Arming Options:
    • Arm Stay: Arms only doors and windows. This mode is typically used when you are home.
    • Arm Away: Arms doors, windows, and motion sensors. This mode is typically used when you leave your home.
  4. Additional Arming Options (Advanced Settings):
    • Touch the ">>" icon on the right side of the screen to view more advanced arming options.
    • Bypass: This allows you to temporarily disable specific sensors during the arming sequence. To bypass a sensor, touch the circle next to it. All open sensors will automatically be bypassed when arming.
    • Exit Sounds: The panel emits beeps as the arming timer counts down. You can silence these beeps before choosing your arming type.
    • Entry Delay: This feature provides a grace period to disarm the system after a "delay door" (e.g., your main entry door) has been opened. You can turn this feature off with a touch.

Disarming Your System:

When your system is armed, there are multiple ways to disarm it.

  1. Disarming Manually (from the Panel):

    • To manually disarm your panel, touch the icon in the center of the screen.
    • You will be prompted to enter a valid code. Failing to enter the correct code within the allotted time will trigger the alarm.
    • Camera Integration: When someone manually disarms the panel, the built-in camera will automatically take a photo. This photo, along with the date, time, and the name of the user, is saved on the camera page.
  2. Disarming Remotely (via Mobile App):

    • To disarm your panel remotely, log in to your mobile app.
    • Touch the "disarm" icon within the app.

Maintenance Features:

While the document doesn't explicitly detail maintenance features, the system's design implies several aspects:

  • Sensor Status Monitoring: The panel's ability to display "Unreachable" or "Tampered" sensor statuses allows users to identify and address potential issues with individual sensors promptly.
  • Remote Diagnostics (Implied): The ability to manage and configure the system remotely suggests that some level of remote diagnostics or troubleshooting might be available through the web portal or mobile app, potentially with support from TELUS.
  • Software Updates (Implied): Smart home systems typically receive software updates to improve functionality, security, and address bugs. While not explicitly stated, this is a common maintenance aspect of such devices.

This comprehensive guide ensures users can effectively set up, manage, and utilize their TELUS SmartHome Security system for optimal home protection and automation.
