Overview

This document describes the Tescoma SmartCLICK pressure cooker, available in 4.0 l, 6.0 l, and 7.5 l capacities (Art. Nos. 702104, 702106, 702108).

Function Description

The SmartCLICK pressure cooker is designed for cooking at both low and high pressure, which helps to preserve the natural taste and nutritional value of meals. Pressure cooking is significantly faster than standard cooking methods. It is equipped with four safety components, making its use absolutely safe.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Material: High-grade stainless steel for the vessel, sturdy handles made of high-quality resistant plastic that do not burn during use.
  • Bottom: Three-layer sandwich bottom with excellent heat-retaining properties, contributing to energy savings and faster cooking at lower heat output.
  • Operating Pressures:
    • Low operating pressure: 0.60 bar
    • High operating pressure: 1.00 bar
  • Compatibility: Suitable for all types of cookers: gas, electric, vitroceramic, and induction.
  • Silicone Seal: Made of heat-resistant silicone, designed for approximately 500 hours of operation. It should be replaced regularly every two years if not used intensively, or immediately if it shows signs of leakage, loss of elasticity, or is pushed through the lid's aperture.
  • Safety Components:
    • Operating Valve (8): Controls high and low pressure, continuously releases excess steam, and releases all steam at the end of cooking.
    • Lock Against Accidental Opening (7): Prevents the pressure cooker from being opened until all steam has escaped and pressure has fully dropped.
    • Safety Valve (9): Acts as a safety component if the operating valve becomes clogged. If steam intensely escapes from this valve during cooking, the cooker should be removed from heat immediately, cooled, and both valves cleaned.
    • Pressure Cut-out / Aperture in the Rim of the Lid (10): If both the operating and safety valves become clogged, internal pressure pushes the silicone seal through this aperture, causing immediate steam release and pressure drop.

Usage Features

Before First Use: Wash the pressure cooker with warm water and detergent, then wipe dry.

Opening the Pressure Cooker: Set the control (1) to the opening position (5). Rotate the lid handle (12) counter-clockwise and remove the lid from the vessel (1). Never apply excessive force.

Inspecting Valves and Lock: Before each use, inspect the operating valve (8), lock against accidental opening (7), and safety valve (9).

  • Operating Valve: Check that its aperture is clean and not clogged. Flush under running water or clean with a thin skewer (2). Ensure the valve nut is tightened.
  • Lock Against Accidental Opening: Check that it moves freely up and down (3). Flush under running water if necessary. Ensure its nut is tightened.
  • Safety Valve: Press its piston several times; it must spring back (4). Flush under running water if necessary. Ensure its nut is tightened. If problems persist after these checks, do not use the pressure cooker and contact a Tescoma service center.

Filling the Pressure Cooker: For safety, fill to a maximum of 2/3 of the vessel's capacity. For frothing or swelling foods (e.g., soups, legumes, rice), fill to a maximum of 1/2 capacity to prevent valve clogging (5). Never cook without water; the minimum amount is 250 ml.

Closing the Pressure Cooker: Set the control (1) to the opening position (5). Place the lid (12) onto the vessel (13) so the round mark on the vessel's handle (13) aligns with the safety valve (9) on the lid. Rotate the lid handle (12) clockwise until both handles are aligned (6). Never apply excessive force.

Cooking in the Pressure Cooker: Select low or high pressure using the control (1).

  1. Low Pressure (3): Turn the control to position (7). Ideal for gentle thermal treatment of vegetables, fruit, legumes, fish, etc.
  2. High Pressure (2): Turn the control to position (8). Faster cooking at higher temperatures, suitable for meat and foods requiring longer thermal treatment. Place the filled and closed pressure cooker on the heat source set to maximum output. After a short time, the lock against accidental opening (7) will rise (9), indicating pressure has built up and the cooker is secured. Steam will then start escaping from the operating valve cover (6) (10). Reduce heat output so only a small amount of steam escapes. Do not switch between low and high pressure during cooking. Use an oven mitt if adjusting pressure, as escaping steam is hot. Always use a cooking range or flame with a diameter equal to or smaller than the bottom of the pressure cooker. Flame must not extend beyond the bottom. Use a dispenser net or cooking range when cooking on gas. A small amount of steam may escape from the control slit during cooking.

Notice (Steam Escape): If a large amount of steam escapes at the start of cooking, the cooker is not correctly closed. Remove from heat and check:

  • Lid incorrectly placed: Re-close the cooker.
  • Control set to steam release (4) or opening (5) position: Set to low (3) or high (2) pressure.
  • Silicone seal (11) incorrectly positioned: Align it properly with the inner rim of the lid.
  • Silicone seal damaged: Replace it with a new original seal from Tescoma Retail or Service Centres.

Ending the Cooking Process, Steam Release, and Opening: ALWAYS release steam ONLY after removing the pressure cooker from the heat source. After cooking, remove the cooker from the heat source (even if it's off). Let it stand for several minutes to allow temperature and pressure to drop. Set the control (1) to the steam release position (4) (11) and wait until all steam has escaped. The lock against accidental opening (7) will automatically drop. Set the control (1) to the opening position (5) and open the pressure cooker. Notice (Stuck Lock): If the lock (7) doesn't drop automatically and the control (1) cannot be set to the opening position, place the cooker in the sink and cool the lid with a small amount of slowly running cold water until the lock drops. Then open and clean the operating (8) and safety (9) valves. NEVER cool the pressure cooker abruptly under running water. Do not let water run onto plastic parts, and do not immerse the entire pressure cooker in water.

Useful Hint: Switch off the heat source in advance to utilize the heat-retaining properties of the three-layer sandwich bottom. The accumulated heat energy continues to transfer to the cooker even after the heat is off. The vessel can also be used without the lid as a traditional deep pot.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean with normal detergents; avoid abrasive cleaners and sharp objects. Special stainless steel cookware cleaners (e.g., Tescoma ProfiMATE 500 ml, Aloe Vera, code 903131) are recommended. Do not store the pressure cooker with the lid on.

Cleaning the Lid: Clean under running water. Do not wash in a dishwasher.

Cleaning the Vessel: The vessel is dishwasher safe. For heavily soiled vessels, soak in water or water with detergent before cleaning. Notice (Salt Stains): If cooking in the vessel without the lid, add salt only after the water boils. Adding salt to cold water can cause high salt concentration at the bottom, leading to light stains (pitting corrosion). These stains do not affect functionality or health and are not considered defects. Notice (White Sediments/Iridescent Colouration): Clean with vinegar, lemon drops, or a special stainless steel cleaner. These are sediments from water's chemical composition. When dishwashing, ensure stainless steel cookware does not touch other metal utensils to prevent contact corrosion (rusty or light stains). Open the dishwasher door as soon as possible after the cycle and remove cookware. Corrosion can also transfer from other products in the water. To preserve the vessel's appearance, limit or avoid dishwashing.
