The Thomson Retro Bluetooth Boombox, model BB-3THB, is a versatile audio system designed for music playback from various sources, including cassette tapes, radio, Bluetooth, and USB/SD storage media. It combines classic retro aesthetics with modern connectivity options.
The boombox features a multi-band radio tuner, supporting FM, AM, SW1, and SW2 frequencies. It includes a cassette player with full functionality: play, pause, fast forward, rewind, record, stop, and eject. For modern convenience, it integrates a Bluetooth receiver for wireless music streaming from compatible devices. Additionally, it has USB and SD card slots for MP3/WMA playback, allowing users to enjoy digital music files. A built-in microphone enables direct recording to USB/SD from the microphone itself, as well as from cassette tapes or radio broadcasts, all in MP3 format. The unit also includes an earphone jack for private listening and built-in speakers for shared audio experiences.
The boombox is controlled via a series of knobs and buttons. The VOLUME KNOB adjusts the overall sound level, while the BASS KNOB allows for bass level adjustment. A FUNCTION SWITCH selects the desired mode (Radio, Tape, Music/Bluetooth). The TUNING KNOB is used to search for radio stations.
To listen to the radio, switch the FUNCTION SWITCH to RADIO mode, then select the desired band (FM, AM, SW1, or SW2) using the BAND SWITCH. Rotate the TUNING KNOB to find a station. For better AM reception, slightly rotating or repositioning the unit may help, as it has a built-in AM bar antenna. For FM, ensure the built-in FM extendable antenna at the rear is fully extended.
The unit can record from radio, tape, or the built-in microphone directly to a USB or SD device. Insert the desired recording device (USB or SD). Select the source mode (RADIO, TAPE, or MUSIC for microphone recording), then press the RECORD button. The LED INDICATOR will flash rapidly (red for USB, green for SD) during recording. Press RECORD again to stop. After recording from the microphone, the unit will automatically play the recorded track.
Switch the FUNCTION SWITCH to MUSIC mode. If a USB/SD device is plugged in, press the MODE button to select Bluetooth mode. The LED INDICATOR will flash rapidly in blue, indicating it's ready to pair. On your Bluetooth device (e.g., mobile phone), search for and select "Thomson BB-3THB" to connect. Once connected, the LED INDICATOR will turn solid blue. Start playback from your device or press the PLAY button on the boombox. During Bluetooth playback, the LED INDICATOR will flash in blue.
Connect headphones or an external amplifier/speaker via the 3.5mm EARPHONE JACK for private listening or external audio output.
