Why won't my Toro Snowthrower engine start?
    • R
      Robert CooperAug 16, 2025
Several factors can prevent your Toro Snowthrower's engine from starting. Ensure the key is in the ignition and in the On position. Check that the choke is in the On position and the primer has been pressed 3 times. The fuel tank may be empty or contain stale fuel; drain and refill with fresh gasoline (not more than 30 days old). Also, verify the spark plug wire is securely connected to the spark plug. Finally, inspect the spark plug for pitting, fouling, or incorrect gap, and adjust or replace it as needed.

Why does my Toro Snow Blower engine not start or start hard?
    • C
      Curtis AlvaradoAug 19, 2025
Several factors can cause your Toro Snow Blower engine to struggle starting: * The key might not be correctly inserted or is in the Stop position. Ensure the key is in the ignition and turned to the On position. * The choke might be in the Off position without priming. Move the choke to the On position and press the primer 3 times. * The fuel tank could be empty or contain old fuel. Refill with fresh gasoline (less than 30 days old). * A loose spark plug wire can prevent starting. Connect the wire to the spark plug. * The spark plug may be faulty. Check the spark plug and adjust the gap if needed. Replace it if pitted, fouled, or cracked. * A restricted fuel cap vent may also be the culprit. Remove the vent restriction or replace the fuel cap.

      Dawn ValdezAug 22, 2025
If your Toro Snowthrower runs but isn't discharging snow well, consider these points: shift the snowthrower into a lower gear, reduce the amount of snow you're trying to remove per swath, and avoid overloading the snowthrower with extremely heavy or wet snow. If the discharge chute is plugged, refer to Unclogging the Discharge Chute on page 13. For issues with the auger/impeller drive belt being loose, off the pulley, worn, or broken, refer to www.Toro.com for servicing information or take the snowthrower to an Authorized Service Dealer.
