Maintenance
Aftereachuseofthetrimmer,completethefollowing:
1.Removethebatteryfromthetrimmer.
2.Wipethetrimmercleanwithadampcloth.Do
nothosethetrimmerdownorsubmergeitin
water.
CAUTION
Thelinecut-offbladeonthedeectoris
sharpandcancutyou.
Donotuseyourhandstocleanthe
deectorshieldandblade.
3.Wipeorscrapecleanthecuttingheadareaany
timethereisanaccumulationofdebris.
4.Checkandtightenallfasteners.Ifanypartis
damagedorlost,repairorreplaceit.
5.Brushdebrisawayfromairintakeventsonmotor
housingtopreventthemotorfromoverheating.
ReplacingtheSpool
Useonly1.65mm(0.065inch)diametermonolament
string.Useoriginalmanufacturer’sreplacementstring
forbestperformance(T oroPartNo.88532or88524).
Important:Usingalargerdiameterstringwill
causethemotortooverheatandfail.
1.Removethebattery.
2.Pushinthetabsonthesideofthespoolretainer
(Figure13).

3.Pullthespoolretaineruptoremoveitand
removethespool.
4.Toinstallthenewspool,ensurethatthestringis
capturedinoneoftheretainingslotsonthenew
spool.Makesuretheendofthestringextends
approximately6inches(152mm).
5.Installthenewspoolsothatthestringaligns
withtheeyeletinthestringhead.Threadthe
stringintotheeyelet.
6.Pullthestringextendingfromthestringheadso
thestringreleasesfromtheslotinthespool.
7.Reinstallthespoolretainerbydepressingtabs
intoslotsandpushingdownuntilspoolretainer
clicksintoplace.
ReplacingtheString
1.Removethebattery.
2.Removethespool;refertoReplacingtheSpool
(Figure13).
