Installing the Blade(s)
1. Install the blade, blade retainer, curved washer (cupped
side toward blade), and the blade bolt (Fig. 31).
Important The curved part of the blade must be
pointing toward the inside of the mower to ensure proper
cutting.
2. Tighten the blade bolt to 45–60 ft.-lb. (61–81 Nm).
Removing the Mower
1. Park the machine on a level surface, disengage the PTO,
shift into neutral, set the parking brake, stop the engine,
and remove the ignition key.
2. Pull the wire off of the spark plug.
3. Move the height-of-cut lever (deck lift) into the “D”
notch.
4. Remove the height-of-cut lift assist spring from the
retaining bolt (Fig. 34), using the spring tool provided
with the machine. The spring is between the frame and
the right rear wheel.

When the mower is being removed, the
spring-tensioned height-of-cut lever (deck lift)
could suddenly release and injure you or someone
else.
Move the height-of-cut lever to the “D” position
and remove the height-of-cut assist spring to
release the spring tension.
Caution
5. Move the height-of-cut lever into the “A” notch.
6. Remove the hairpin cotter and washer from the blade
control arm on the left side of the mower (Fig. 35).
Slide the rod off of the arm.

7. Remove the bolts and locknuts and pull the two mower
pivot mount brackets down from the front axle
(Fig. 36).
