Ifthemalfunctionindicatorlight(MIL)illuminates,
duringoperation,theelectroniccontrolunit(ECU)has
detectedaproblemorfaultinthedirectfuelinjection
(DFI)system.
OncetheMILilluminates,initialtroubleshootingchecks
shouldbemade.RefertoTroubleshooting,page59,
undertheMILsection.
Ifthesechecksdonotcorrecttheproblem,further
diagnosisandservicingbyanAuthorizedServiceDealer
isnecessary.
ServicingtheFuelFilters
ReplacingtheFuelFilter
ServiceInterval:Every400hours(oryearly,whichever
comesrst)(moreoftenindirtyor
dustyconditions).
EnsurethatanAuthorizedServiceDealerreplacesthe
fuellterandanycomponentsforthefuelsystem.
Useofimpropercomponentscanresultin
systemfailure,fuelleakageandpossible
explosion.
•EnsurethatanAuthorizedServiceDealer
replacethefuellterandanycomponents
forthefuelsystem.
•Useonlyapprovedfuellines,hoseclamps
andfuelltersforhighpressuresystems.
