Replacing the Hydraulic Filter and Oil
Chang e the h y draulic ļ¬lter and oil:
⢠After the ļ¬rst 8 operating hours .
⢠Chang e yearly after the ļ¬rst 200 operating
hours .
Use summer ļ¬lter abo v e 32°F (0°C)
Use winter ļ¬lter belo w 32°F (0°C)
1. Diseng ag e the PTO , mo v e the motion control
lev ers to the neutral loc k ed position and set
the parking brak e .
2. Stop the engine , remo v e the k ey , and w ait for
all mo ving par ts to stop before lea ving the
operating position.
Important: Do not substitute automoti v e
oil ļ¬lter or sev er e h y draulic system dama ge
may r esult.
3. Place a drain pan under ļ¬lter , remo v e the old
ļ¬lter and wipe the ļ¬lter adapter g ask et surface
clean ( Figure 56 ).

4. Apply a thin coat to the r ubber g ask et on the
re placement ļ¬lter ( Figure 57 ).
5. Install the re placement h y draulic ļ¬lter onto the
ļ¬lter adapter . Do not tighten.
6. Fill the h y draulic tank with h y draulic ļ¬uid until
the ļ¬uid o v erļ¬o ws the ļ¬lter and then tur n
the oil ļ¬lter cloc kwise until the r ubber g ask et
contacts the ļ¬lter adapter , then tighten the
ļ¬lter an additional 1/2 tur n ( Figure 57 ).
7. Clean up any spilled ļ¬uid.
8. Add ļ¬uid to the cold lev el of the bafļ¬e in the
h y draulic tank.
9. Star t the engine and let it r un for about tw o
min utes to purg e air from the system. Stop
the engine and c hec k for leaks . If one or
both wheels will not dri v e , refer to Bleeding
Hy draulic System.
10. R ec hec k the ļ¬uid lev el while the ļ¬uid is w ar m.
T he ļ¬uid should be betw een cold and hot.
11. If required, add ļ¬uid to the h y draulic tank. Do
not o v erļ¬ll.
