AddingWatertotheBattery
Thebesttimetoadddistilledwatertothebatteryisjust
beforeyouoperatethemachine.Thisletsthewatermix
thoroughlywiththeelectrolytesolution.
1.Cleanthetopofthebatterywithapapertowel.
2.Removethellercaps(
Figure34).
3.Slowlypourdistilledwaterintoeachbatterycelluntil
thelevelisuptothelowerpartofthetube(Figure34).
Important:Donotoverllthebattery.Electrolyte
(sulfuricacid)canseverelycorrodeanddamage
thechassis.
4.Replacethellercaps.
ChargingtheBattery
WARNING
Chargingthebatteryproducesgassesthatcan
explode.Neversmokenearthebatteryandkeep
sparksandamesawayfromthebattery.
Important:Alwayskeepthebatteryfullycharged(1.260
specicgravity),especiallybelow32°F(0°C)toprevent
batterydamage.
1.Removethebatteryfromthechassis;refertoRemoving
theBattery.
2.Checktheelectrolytelevel;refertoCheckingthe
ElectrolyteLevel.
3.Removethellercapsfromthebatteryandconnecta
2ampbatterychargertothebatteryposts.
4.Chargethebatteryatarateof2ampsorlessfor4
hours(12volts).Donotoverchargethebattery.
5.Whenthebatteryisfullycharged,installthellercaps.
6.Installthebatteryinthechassis;refertoInstallingthe
Battery.
