Your television is fitted with a NICAM stereo
decoder. NICAM refers to the digital stereo
system broadcast by television stations. NICAM
provides a new dimension to your TV by
enhancing the sound quality to the point where
it compares with hi-fi audio systems.

Television programmes can be broadcast with either stereo or
mono NICAM sound, the broadcast is always accompanied by
FM mono sound. Your TV will automatically switch to NICAM
(in NICAM auto mode [see below]) if it detects a NICAM
broadcast signal.

Press P or Pto select NICAM menu.
Press OK to toggle between AUTO and OFF. Press EXIT to
clear the display.
Press MENU on your remote
control. The on screen
display will appear.

Under normal circumstances
NICAM should be set to
AUTO. This will enable your
TV to pick up NICAM stereo
programmes when
broadcasted.
When selecting a channel at
NICAM AUTO mode, NICAM
STEREO will be displayed on
the screen.
When selecting a channel at
NICAM OFF mode, NICAM
OFF will be displayed on the
screen.
