Do you have a question about the Toshiba RAS-25N4KVPG-ND and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document is an installation manual for Toshiba split-type air conditioners, specifically models RAS-25N4KVPG-ND and RAS-35N4KVPG-ND for indoor units, and RAS-25N4AVPG-ND and RAS-35N4AVPG-ND for outdoor units. The manual provides comprehensive instructions for safe and proper installation, covering various aspects from safety precautions to electrical work and testing.

Function Description:

The Toshiba split-type air conditioner is designed for residential or commercial use to provide cooling and heating. It operates on a refrigeration cycle using R32 refrigerant, which is a fluorinated greenhouse gas with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) value of 675. The system consists of an indoor unit and an outdoor unit connected by refrigerant piping and electrical cables. The indoor unit is responsible for air distribution and temperature control within the room, while the outdoor unit houses the compressor and heat exchanger for the refrigeration cycle. The unit includes an "Auto Restart Function" which allows it to automatically resume operation in the same mode as before a power failure.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Refrigerant Type: R32 (GWP value: 675).
  • Power Source: 50Hz, 220-240V Single phase.
  • Maximum Running Current: 12.00A (for RAS-25N4KVPG-ND/RAS-25N4AVPG-ND) and 12.50A (for RAS-35N4KVPG-ND/RAS-35N4AVPG-ND).
  • Circuit Breaker Rating: 20A for both models.
  • Power Supply Cable: H07RN-F or 60245 IEC66 (2.0 mm² or more).
  • Refrigerant Piping (Liquid Side): Ø6.35 mm.
  • Refrigerant Piping (Gas Side): Ø9.52 mm.
  • Copper Pipe Thickness (for R32): Must be more than 0.8 mm.
  • Chargeless Piping Length: Up to 15 m.
  • Maximum Piping Length: 25 m.
  • Additional Refrigerant Charging: 20 g/1 m for lengths between 16-25 m.
  • Maximum Refrigerant Charging: 1.30 kg.
  • Maximum Outdoor Unit Installation Height: 15 m.
  • Drain Hose Diameter (Commercial): 32 mm.
  • Tightening Torque for Flare Pipe Connections:
    • Ø6.35 mm: 16-18 N·m (1.6-1.8 kgf·m)
    • Ø9.52 mm: 33-42 N·m (3.3-4.2 kgf·m)
    • Ø12.70 mm: 50-62 N·m (5.0-6.2 kgf·m)
  • Tightening Torque for Valve Rod Cap:
    • H17-H19: 14-18 N·m (1.4-1.8 kgf·m)
    • H22-H30: 33-42 N·m (3.3-4.2 kgf·m)
  • Tightening Torque for Service Port Cap:
    • H14: 8-12 N·m (0.8-1.2 kgf·m)
    • H17: 14-18 N·m (1.4-1.8 kgf·m)
  • Maximum Local Heating Cable: 90W (Fuse specification: 0.5A for 15-75W, 1.0A for 76-90W).

Usage Features:

The air conditioner is controlled via a wireless remote control. The manual details how to select A-B settings for the remote control, which is useful when two indoor units are installed in the same or adjacent rooms to prevent simultaneous operation. The "Test Operation" mode can be activated by pressing the temporary switch on the indoor unit for 10 seconds, allowing installers to verify proper functioning. The "Auto Restart Function" is enabled by default but can be turned off or on by holding the temporary switch for 3 seconds.

  • Air Filter Cleaning: Instructions are provided for cleaning air filters every 2 weeks, involving opening the air inlet grille, removing, vacuuming or washing, drying, and reinstalling the filters.
  • Drainage Test: After installing the drain hose, water should be poured into the drain pan to ensure proper outdoor drainage. Connecting parts of extension drain hoses should be insulated with shield pipe.
  • Gas Leak Test: After refrigerant piping connection, a gas leak test must be performed using a gas leak detector or soap water at flare nut connections.
  • Evacuation: The air in the connecting pipes and indoor unit must be purged using a vacuum pump. The manual emphasizes not using the refrigerant in the outdoor unit for purging.
  • Refrigerant Handling: For R32 models, specific pipes, flare nuts, and tools designed for R32 refrigerant must be used. Existing R22 piping and tools are explicitly warned against, as they can cause abnormally high pressure and potential explosion.
  • Pipe Insulation: Both connecting pipes must be insulated with polyethylene foam (6 mm thick) to prevent dew formation, which can lead to machine trouble.
  • Drain Nipple Installation: For outdoor units, a drain nipple and cap water proof should be attached to the bottom plate if defrost water drainage is required.
  • Electrical Safety: The manual stresses the importance of correct wiring, proper earthing, and ensuring that the earth wire is not broken or disconnected. It also specifies that the appliance must be connected to the main power supply via a circuit breaker or switch with at least 3 mm contact separation in all poles.
