TROUBLESHOOTING
IF THE PUMP FAILS TO OPERATE:
• Check to make sure the power cord is plugged in and the pump
is getting power.
• Check the pump outlet and any tubing, fountains, spitters etc.
for kinks or obstructions.
• Remove the front cover and/or pump cover, and impeller cover
to expose the impeller. Turn the impeller to ensure that it is not

upon the environment in which it is operated. Clean the pump
when it is visibly soiled or when a drop in performance is
detected.
MAINTENANCE & TROUBLESHOOTING
Always disconnect units from the power source before
beginning any maintenance or work on the unit.
FILTER
• The lter may require cleaning from time to time for optimal
performance.
• The exterior surface of the lter box may need occasional
cleaning. Particularly if the openings in the top of the lter
box are obstructed. When cleaning the lter box use warm
water only. Do not use any chemicals that may destroy the
benecial bacteria.
• Remove the lter pads and clean with water and when
they are visibly soiled. For best results, clean the lter pads
weekly.
• Filter pads should be replaced annually or when visibly
deteriorating. Use Replacement Filter Pads #52233.
• The bioballs contain benecial bacteria. At least once a
year the entire system should be disassembled and cleaned
thoroughly using warm water. This should not be done during
the warm season as it may take up to 8 weeks to re-establish
the environmental balance. The best time of the year to
“breakdown” your system is in early spring before the water
temperatures begin to rise.
• Put all media back into the lter and reconnect the pump to
the power source when you are nished.
Step 1. Before cleaning, always
disconnect the pump from the
power source and remove the
pump cover.
Step 2. Remove the impeller
cover to expose the impeller
assembly. Remove the impeller
assembly by gently pulling
on the impeller blades. The
impeller is held in place by a
magnet.
Step 3. Use a soft cloth or brush
and warm water to clean the
impeller and the inside of the
impeller housing.
Step 4. Reassemble all pump parts and place in water before
reconnecting to the power source.
