This document provides service information for the Trane 4YCY4036B-SF-1H and 4YCY4036B1075/1096B single packaged gas heating/electric cooling units.
These units are single packaged systems designed for both gas heating and electric cooling. They are controlled by a comfort control (thermostat) and operate automatically once the desired mode (HEAT or COOL) is set. The indoor fan can be set to continuous operation (ON) or automatic (AUTO), with AUTO recommended in humid climates to prevent discomfort or high relative humidity. Safety devices are integrated to protect against abnormal operating conditions, such as excessive supply air temperature, flame rollout, or inadequate combustion air pressure.
Models: 4YCY4036B1075B and 4YCY4036B1096B Rated Volts/PH/Hz: 208-230/1/60 for both models.

The units are certified in accordance with the Unitary Air-Conditioner Equipment certification program, based on AHRI Standard 210/240. Sound Power values are not adjusted for AHRI 270-95 tonal corrections. All models are certified to UL 1995. Ratings are shown for elevations up to 2000 ft; for higher elevations, ratings should be reduced by 4% per 1000 ft. elevation. The units are convertible to LPG.
Cooling Cycle: When the comfort control is set to COOL and the fan to AUTO, the compressor contactor (CC) and indoor fan motor (IDM) are energized. The compressor (CPR) and outdoor fan motor (ODM) operate, provided safety controls are closed. The indoor fan motor (IDM) also operates. The thermostat cycles the compressor and fans to maintain the desired temperature. If the comfort control fan is set to ON, the indoor fan motor (IDM) runs continuously, regardless of compressor and condenser fan operation.

Safety Sequences:
Refrigerant Charging (Cooling above 55°F OD Ambient): The preferred method is to weigh in the factory charge per the unit nameplate. If weighing is not practical, the following method can be used for systems with indoor TXVs:
Troubleshooting Chart: A detailed troubleshooting chart is provided, categorizing faults into "Refrigerant Circuit" and "Electrical." It lists common system faults and their primary (P) and secondary (S) causes, such as:
IGN Diagnostic Indicators Flash Codes: The IGN control module provides diagnostic flash codes via an LED:
