The TrolMaster HS-1 Humidistat Station is a specialized device designed for controlling dehumidifiers with a 24V terminal. It integrates seamlessly with the Hydro-X control system, allowing users to manage humidity levels in their environment effectively. The station's primary function is to monitor and regulate relative humidity, ensuring that the environment maintains a desired setpoint.
The HS-1 Humidistat Station operates by connecting to a Hydro-X system via four data lines through its back panel ports. This connection enables the HS-1 to control any 24V dehumidifier. Users can set their preferred humidity levels for both Day and Night modes within the Hydro-X system's Humidity Settings. Once configured, the HS-1 unit takes over, activating the dehumidifier when the measured humidity exceeds the setpoint, thereby working to reduce it to the desired level.
The device features a clear LCD screen that displays both the setpoint humidity (in the upper part of the screen) and the current measured humidity (in the lower part). This immediate visual feedback allows users to quickly assess the current environmental conditions and the device's operational status. When the current humidity is higher than the setpoint, the HS-1 unit will engage the connected dehumidifier to bring the humidity down.
The HS-1 Humidistat Station offers several features designed for ease of use and effective humidity management:
Installation involves releasing a bracket from the unit by pulling two tabs outward. This bracket is then mounted to a wall or surface near the dehumidifier. Signal cables from the dehumidifier need to be prepared by peeling off their outer sheath to expose the copper wire. These bare wires are then inserted into the corresponding terminals on the back panel of the HS-1 while pressing the terminal designation button. Releasing the button clamps the wire securely. After verifying the wires are firmly secured, the unit is placed back onto the bracket, and the tabs are pressed back in to lock it in place.
For connection to the Hydro-X system, once the signal wires are successfully connected to the HS-1 unit, an RJ12 cable is used to link the HS-1 to the DEVICES socket on the bottom of the Hydro-X. This establishes communication, allowing the Hydro-X to monitor and manage the HS-1's performance.
Upon power-on, if correctly connected, the HS-1's LCD screen will prompt the user to "Please press Addressing Key." If incorrectly connected, it will display "Offline." Pressing the Addressing button on the HS-1 unit allows the Hydro-X to assign an address, such as H1, to the HS-1. The Hydro-X's LCD screen will then confirm "Station H1 has been added." It's important to note that the address (e.g., H1) is not a fixed product code and can vary (e.g., H2) depending on the connection sequence of multiple dehumidifier devices.
The HS-1 includes a FAN button that allows users to select either ON or AUTO mode for the fan within an air-conditioner.
Firmware upgrades are facilitated through a straightforward process. To initiate an upgrade, users need to press and hold the "Addressing" button while re-plugging the RJ12 cable. The upgrade process will then proceed automatically. It is crucial to ensure that the firmware upgrade file is correctly named "hs1_update.hex" for the process to be successful.
The HS-1 Humidistat Station is designed with minimal user-serviceable parts, emphasizing safety and durability.
