The Trotec BE15 is a voltage detector designed for detecting alternating voltages (AC) and signaling their presence to the user via a flashing LED and an acoustic signal. This device is particularly useful for identifying cable breaks or determining the presence of alternating voltage in fuses, wires, and cables. Additionally, it features an integrated LED torch for convenience in low-light conditions.
The primary function of the BE15 is to detect alternating voltages. When an AC voltage is present within the selected sensitivity range, the measuring tip will flash, and a repetitive acoustic signal will be emitted. The device offers two sensitivity levels to accommodate different voltage ranges:
The device is switched on by pressing the device power button. Upon activation, a brief acoustic signal is emitted, and the measuring tip lights up green, indicating that the device is set to sensitivity level 1 (200 V to 1000 V). To switch to sensitivity level 2 (24 V to 1000 V), the sensitivity selection button (which is the same as the power button) must be briefly pressed once. The measuring tip will then light up orange to indicate the change in sensitivity.
Before any measurement, it is crucial to check the device's functionality using a known voltage source, such as a 230 V AC source or a 9 V battery, to ensure it is operating correctly and to select the appropriate measuring range.
The integrated LED torch is activated by pressing and holding the LED torch power button. The torch remains illuminated as long as the button is pressed and switches off when released.
The BE15 is intended for detecting alternating voltages only and is not suitable for accurate voltage measurements or detecting direct current voltages. It should not be used in potentially explosive atmospheres or when wet or very humid. Unauthorized modifications are strictly forbidden.
