Overview

The Trotec TTK 125 S is a professional-grade condensation dehumidifier designed for drying and dehumidifying room air, suitable for various applications from living spaces to storage areas. It operates on the principle of condensation, efficiently removing moisture from the air.

Function Description

The device works by drawing damp room air through an air inlet and an air filter. This air then passes over a cold evaporator, where its temperature is reduced below the dew point. As a result, water vapor in the air condenses on the evaporator fins, forming water or rime. The now dehumidified and cooled air is then slightly warmed by a condenser before being blown back into the room. This continuous circulation reduces the humidity in the room where the device is placed.

The condensed water is collected in an integrated 6-liter condensation tank, which features a float to measure the filling level. Alternatively, the device can be connected to a drain hose for continuous drainage, or an optional condensate pump can be attached for automatic water removal, especially useful for continuous operation or when the device cannot be manually emptied regularly.

The TTK 125 S offers a continuous operation mode where it dehumidifies air constantly, irrespective of the humidity level. For this mode, the rotary switch should be set to "Max." The device also features an automatic defrost function that activates if the room temperature falls below 11 °C, preventing the evaporator from freezing. During defrost, the device temporarily stops dehumidifying.

A temperature limitation (overheating protection) feature is integrated to protect the compressor from extreme temperatures. The compressor automatically switches off if the ambient temperature exceeds +35 °C (+/- 2 °C) or falls below -3 °C (+/- 2 °C), while the fan continues to run. This protects the device from overloading and ensures economical operation. The compressor also includes a delay start of approximately 3 minutes to protect it and extend its lifespan, which applies after initial power-on or after the condensation tank has been removed and reinserted.

The device is optionally available with a dual counter that registers both operating hours and energy consumption (kWh), certified according to MID (Measuring Instruments Directive 2004/22/EC) for accounting purposes.

Usage Features

The TTK 125 S is designed for ease of use and mobility. It is equipped with wheels for easy transport and carrying handles for repositioning. The control panel includes a rotary switch for selecting the desired relative room humidity, a mains switch for turning the device on and off (which illuminates when active), an operating hours counter, and an optional kilowatt-hours counter.

Status indicators include a "Condensation tank LED" (14) which illuminates when the tank is full or incorrectly installed, and a "Status LED" (15) that indicates normal operation (flashing once per second), temperature limit issues (flashing five times per second), or general problems (permanently illuminated).

For continuous operation, a hose can be attached to the condensation connection to drain water directly, bypassing the need to empty the tank. An optional external condensate pump (Trotec article number 6.100.003.030) can be integrated for automatic and continuous water removal, especially when combined with a TTKwic port and a Qube system.

The device is intended for use in rooms with a floor area larger than 4 m² and must be positioned in an upright, stable position on firm ground. It should not be used in potentially explosive atmospheres, aggressive atmospheres, or wet rooms like laundry rooms.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the device's longevity and efficient operation. Key maintenance activities include:

  • Air Filter: The air filter (Trotec article number 7.160.000.006) should be checked for dirt and foreign objects as needed, and at least every 2 weeks. It should be cleaned with a damp, lint-free cloth or warm water with a neutral cleaning agent if heavily contaminated. The air filter must be completely dry before reinsertion. Operating the device without an air filter can lead to heavy internal contamination and reduced performance.
  • Condensation Tank: The condensation tank should be emptied as needed, and its float checked for dirt to ensure free movement. The tank must be correctly inserted for the device to operate.
  • Exterior and Interior Cleaning: The exterior should be cleaned as needed, and at least every 4 weeks, with a soft, damp, lint-free cloth, avoiding moisture ingress into electrical components. A visual check of the device's interior for dirt should be performed at least every 6 months, and if a thick layer of dust is present, the interior should be cleaned by a specialist.
  • Power Cable and Connections: The power cable and mains plug should be checked for damage before every use.
  • Attachment Screws: Attachment screws should be checked for damage as needed.
  • Test Run: A test run should be performed annually.
  • Running Capacitor: The running capacitor should be replaced after 10,000 operating hours.
  • Refrigerant Circuit: The entire refrigerant circuit is a hermetically sealed, maintenance-free system. Any maintenance or repair work on the refrigerant circuit must only be carried out by specialist companies for cooling and air-conditioning or by Trotec, and only by persons with a certificate of qualification for handling flammable refrigerants.
  • Safety Signs and Labels: All safety signs, stickers, and labels on the device must be kept legible and replaced if necessary.

Before any maintenance, the device must be switched off and disconnected from the mains by holding the mains plug and pulling it out of the socket. After maintenance or repair work, a waiting period of at least 10 minutes is recommended before switching the device back on.

The device also comes with a protective cover (Trotec article number 6.100.003.101) to shield it from dust and direct sunlight during storage.
