Overview

The Trotec TTK 175 S and TTK 355 S are professional-grade dehumidifiers designed for drying and dehumidifying room air, suitable for various environments such as living rooms, bedrooms, basements, holiday homes, camper vans, storage spaces, archives, laboratories, garages, and changing rooms. These devices operate on the principle of condensation to automatically remove moisture from the air.

Function Description:

The dehumidifier works by drawing damp room air through an air inlet, an air filter, and then over an evaporator and condenser. The air is cooled at the evaporator to below its dew point, causing water vapor to condense or freeze on the evaporator fins. The dehumidified, cooled air is then slightly warmed by the condenser and blown back into the room. This continuous circulation reduces the humidity in the room. The condensed water collects in an integrated drain nozzle, flowing into a condensation tank equipped with a float to measure the filling level. For continuous operation or unattended dehumidification, a hose can be attached to the condensation connection to drain water directly. The device can reduce relative humidity to approximately 30%. An operating element allows for control and function management.

The compressor always starts with a delay of approximately 3 minutes, which protects it and extends its lifespan. This delay also applies after the condensation tank is emptied and reinserted, or during optional hygrostat operation when the room humidity exceeds the set point. The fan operates independently of the compressor and only switches off if the condensation tank is removed.

The device features an automatic defrost function. If the room temperature falls below 11 °C, the evaporator may freeze during dehumidification, and the device will automatically initiate a defrost cycle. During this process, the device continues to operate, and the mains plug should not be removed.

A temperature limitation (overheating protection) is integrated to protect the compressor. If the ambient temperature exceeds +35 °C (+/- 2 °C) or falls below -3 °C (+/- 2 °C), the compressor automatically switches off, while the fan continues to run. This prevents overloading and ensures economical operation, as drying at extreme temperatures is less efficient and can pose risks to room inventory. The switch-off function includes a switch-on hysteresis of -2 °C.
