Why does my Troy-Bilt Pressure Washer pump have low or erratic pressure?

  The pump may have low or erratic pressure due to several reasons: 1. A low-pressure spray tip may be installed. Replace it with a high-pressure spray tip. 2. The water inlet could be blocked. Clear the inlet. 3. There might be an inadequate water supply. Ensure adequate water flow. 4. The inlet hose may be kinked or leaking. Straighten the hose or patch the leak. 5. The inlet hose screen could be clogged. Check and clean it. 6. The water supply might be too hot (over 100°F). Provide a cooler water supply. 7. The high-pressure hose may be blocked or leaking. Clear any blockages in the outlet hose. 8. The spray gun could be leaking. Replace the spray gun. 9. The spray tip might be obstructed. Clean the spray tip.

  If your Troy-Bilt pressure washer engine won't start, consider these possibilities: 1. The oil level might be low. Fill the crankcase to the proper level. 2. The air cleaner could be dirty. Clean or replace it. 3. The unit might be out of fuel. Fill the fuel tank. 4. The fuel may be stale. Drain the tank and refill with fresh fuel. 5. The spark plug wire might not be connected. Connect the wire to the spark plug. 6. The spark plug could be bad. Replace it. 7. There might be water in the fuel. Drain the tank and refill with fresh fuel.

  If detergent fails to mix with the spray, it could be due to these reasons: 1. The detergent shut-off valve(s) is in the “Off” position. Turn the detergent shut-off valve(s) to the “On” position. 2. The detergent siphoning tube is clogged or cracked. Clean or replace the detergent siphoning tube. 3. A high-pressure spray tip is installed. Replace it with a low-pressure spray tip.
