Why won't my Troy-Bilt TB35 EC engine start?
    • E
      Elizabeth HullAug 13, 2025
Several factors can prevent your Troy-Bilt Trimmer from starting. It could be due to an empty fuel tank, so fill it with properly-mixed fuel. Ensure you've pressed the primer bulb enough times (10 times or until fuel is visible). If the engine is flooded, press the throttle lockout, squeeze the throttle control, and pull the starter rope until the engine starts. Old or improperly mixed fuel can also be a culprit; drain the tank and add fresh fuel. A fouled spark plug requires replacement. Also, make sure that you flipped the choke lever, referring to Starting Instructions in the Starting and Stopping section.

What to do if Troy-Bilt TB35 EC Trimmer cutting head will not advance line?
    • D
      dsmithAug 20, 2025
If the cutting head on your Troy-Bilt Trimmer won't advance the line, there are several possible causes: * The cutting head might be bound with grass, so stop the engine and clean it. * The cutting head could be out of line, requiring you to refill it with new line. * The inner reel might be bound up; clean the inner reel and outer spool. * The cutting head could be dirty, so open it and remove any welded sections. * The line might be welded, meaning you'll need to rewind it. * The line could be twisted; stop the unit, push the bump knob, and pull the line until 4 inches (102 mm) extends outside the cutting head. * Not enough line is extended.

    • B
      bryan20Aug 28, 2025
If the cutting head on your Troy-Bilt Trimmer won't advance the line, there are several possible reasons. The cutting head may be bound with grass; stop the engine and clean it. Alternatively, the cutting head could be out of line, requiring you to refill it with new line. The inner reel might be bound up, needing cleaning of the inner reel and outer spool. If the cutting head is dirty, open it and remove any welded sections. If the line is welded, rewind it. Should the line be twisted, stop the unit, push the bump knob, and pull the line until 4 inches (102 mm) extends outside the cutting head. Not enough line is extended, you should clean and thoroughly dry the cutting head.
