What to do if True Merchandiser compressor runs but doesn't refrigerate?
    • D
      Donald EspinozaJul 26, 2025
If your True Merchandiser's compressor is running but not refrigerating, check the refrigerant charge, suction pressure, and discharge pressure. If the suction pressure is high and the evaporator and condenser are working correctly, check the compressor amperage draw.

Why does my True Merchandiser compressor start but trip the overload protector?
    • T
      Thomas KellyAug 7, 2025
If the motor compressor in your True Merchandiser starts but repeatedly trips the overload protector, begin by checking the compressor's suction and discharge pressures while it's running. Also, check the line voltage at the motor terminals during operation and verify the amperage draw. If all operating conditions, voltage, and amperage are within normal limits, the motor protector itself may be defective and should be replaced. However, if the compressor runs excessively hot or the amperage draw is too high, it may indicate internal damage, requiring compressor replacement.

How to fix a True Merchandiser coil defrost heater trip?
    • V
      Victor SmithAug 13, 2025
If the coil defrost heater in your True Merchandiser is tripping, use an ohmmeter to check the heater for continuity. If the heater is defective, cut the bale wires holding it to the coil, remove the old heater, and replace it with a new one using the provided bale wires.

How to resolve a True Merchandiser drain tube heater trip?
    • M
      Meghan MillsSep 12, 2025
If the drain tube heater in your True Merchandiser is tripping, use an ohmmeter to check the heater. If it's defective, disconnect the drain tube from the rigid plastic drain, bend the evaporator drain pan tabs to expose the flexible heater, pull the heater out of the plastic drain tube, and replace it. Then, connect the heater to the electrical circuit in the evaporator compartment.

How to troubleshoot a True Merchandiser compressor that won't run?
    • K
      Kathy CunninghamOct 31, 2025
If the compressor on your True Merchandiser isn't running, start by checking for voltage at the compressor terminals. If there's no voltage, trace the wiring from the compressor back to the power supply to find any breaks in the circuit. If voltage is present but the compressor still doesn't run, measure the voltage at the terminals while trying to start the compressor. If it's below 90% of the nameplate voltage, inadequate torque might be the issue. Inspect wire sizes, connections, and the power supply. For single-phase compressors, a faulty capacitor or relay could be the cause; check the relay for damage. If the correct voltage is available but no current is drawn, disconnect all wires and check the motor windings for continuity. Also, check for a ground between the common terminal and ...
