NOTE: This smoke detector was designed to
be mounted on the ceiling or wall. It is not a
tabletop device.
CAUTION! Do not connect this unit to any other
detector or auxiliary device. It is a single-
station unit that cannot be linked to other
devices. Connecting anything else to this unit
may prevent it from working properly.
CAUTION! Do not install this unit over an
electrical junction box. Air currents around
junction boxes can prevent smoke from
reaching the sensing chamber and prevent the
unit from alarming. Only AC-powered units are
intended for installation over junction boxes.
Place the bracket on the wall or ceiling where
detector will be mounted.
1. If locking the battery compartment or locking the
smoke detector to the mounting bracket, please
read the "Locking Feature (Optional)" section.
2. Hold base firmly and twist the mounting bracket
counterclockwise to separate it from the unit.
(See Figure 1)
3. Hold the mounting bracket against the ceiling or
wall and trace around the inside of the mounting
slots. (See Figure 1)

4. Use a pencil to make a mark inside each outline for
the drill holes.
5. Set the unit where it won't get covered with dust
when drilling the mounting holes.
6. Using a 3/16" drill bit, drill a hole through each pencil
mark.
7. Insert the plastic screw anchors (included) into the
holes. Tap the screw anchors gently with a hammer,
if necessary, until they are flush with the ceiling or
wall.

Installation Guide

Separate Mounting Bracket

Detach the mounting bracket from the smoke detector unit by twisting counterclockwise.

Trace and Mark Mounting Holes

Trace the mounting bracket slots onto the ceiling/wall and mark drill hole locations.

Drill Holes and Insert Anchors

Drill holes using a 3/16" bit and insert screw anchors flush with the surface.

Attach Mounting Bracket

Align bracket with anchors and screw securely to the ceiling or wall.

Perform Initial Test

Press and hold the test button on the detector to verify alarm function.

Activating Smoke Detector

Pull Activation Tab

Turn the detector upside down and pull the activation tab to power the unit.

Attach Smoke Detector to Bracket

Secure Unit to Bracket

Push the detector onto the bracket and turn clockwise until it locks into place.

Final Test

Press the test button again to confirm the alarm sounds correctly.

Optional Locking Feature

Locking Feature Explanation

Feature discourages unauthorized removal of battery or detector; not essential for single-family homes.

Locking the Battery Compartment

Detach Locking Pin

Use pliers or a knife to detach one locking pin from the mounting bracket.

Engage Locking Pin

Insert the locking pin into the notch on the detector base to attach the bracket.

Unlocking the Battery Compartment

Release Smoke Detector

Insert screwdriver between bracket pin and bracket, then pry and turn counterclockwise.
