FOREWORD
Th~s technical manual has been prepared to guide you
in the maintenance of your new UNION SPECIAL machine.
Careful attention to the instruct~ons for operating
and adjusting these mach1nes w1ll enable you to main-
tain the superior performance and reliability de-
s1gned and
built into every UNION SPECIAL machine .
The AdJusting Instruction portion of this manual ex-
plains in detail the proper setting for each of the
components related to forming the stitch and com-
pleting the functions of the machine. Figures are
used to illustrate the adjustments using reference
letters to point out spec1fic items discussed.
Adjustments are presented ~n sequence so that a log-
ical progression is accomplished. Some adjustments
performed
out of sequence may have an adverse effect
on the funct1on of other related parts.
Whenever it becomes necessary to make repairs or re-
place parts on your machine, be sure to insist on
