Only qualified personnel should install this system.
Personnel should have a clear understanding of these
instructions and should be aware of general safety
precautions. Improper installation can result in electric
shock, possible injury due to coming in contact with
moving parts, as well as other potential hazards.
Other considerations may be required if high winds
or seismic activity are present. If more information is
needed, contact a licensed professional engineer before
movingforward.
1. Follow all local electrical and safety codes, as well as
the National Electrical Code (NEC), the National Fire
Protection Agency (NFPA), where applicable. Follow
the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) in Canada.
2. All moving parts must be free to rotate without
striking or rubbing any stationary objects.
3. Unit must be securely and adequately grounded.
4. Do not spin fan wheel faster than maximum cataloged
fan RPM. Adjustments to fan speed significantly
affects motor load. If the fan RPM is changed, the
motor current should be checked to make sure it is
not exceeding the motor nameplate amps.
5. Do not allow the power cable to kink or come in
contact with oil, grease, hot surfaces or chemicals.
Replace cord immediately if damaged.
6. Verify that the power source is compatible with
theequipment.
7. Never open access doors to the unit while it
isrunning.
General Safety Information
DANGER

this equipment. Lock and tag the disconnect switch or
breaker to prevent accidental power up.
CAUTION
When servicing the unit, the internal components may
be hot enough to cause pain or injury. Allow time for
cooling before servicing.
CAUTION
Precaution should be taken in explosive atmospheres.

Why is my valent Fan unit not operating?
    • M
      Michael WoodardAug 11, 2025
The valent Fan unit may not be operating due to several reasons. There might be a loss of input power, so check the breaker. Incorrect wiring could also be the cause, thus you should check the input power wiring. If the green LED is not illuminated for Remote ON, validate that it is illuminated. Also, validate there is a short between Pins 1 & 2 of TB2 for Remote “ON”.

If Motor A on your valent Fan isn't turning on, validate the motor wiring. Also, validate the 0-10V motor command voltage at the motor, ensuring it's greater than 2.00V. Additionally, check that the frost control is not activated by checking the SW1 Inlet/Outlet switch.

      Jeffrey SimpsonAug 29, 2025
If the energy wheel motor on your valent Fan does not turn on, validate the motor wiring. Also, validate the green LED on the ERV controller is illuminated “ON”. Check if the energy recovery wheel is stuck and not free by turning it by hand to verify free operation. If none of these solutions work, consider replacing the motor.

How to fix no remote +24V sensor power on valent ERC-M?
    • J
      Jennifer ProctorSep 4, 2025
To fix the issue of no remote +24V sensor power on your valent Fan, first check the input power wiring. Then, validate the correct input power to terminal block TB1. Finally, remove the wires at Pins 3 and 4 of TB2 and measure the voltage for +24Vdc. If +24Vdc is measured, it indicates too much current draw, meaning the sensor might be damaged or drawing too much power; in this case, check the breaker.
