Why does my Vermont Castings LHER20 have frequent pilot outage problems?
    • B
      Blake HarrisonAug 16, 2025
Frequent pilot outages in your Vermont Castings Indoor Fireplace can occur for several reasons: * The pilot flame may be too low or blowing, causing the pilot safety to drop out. Clean and/or adjust the pilot flame for maximum flame impingement on the thermopile and thermocouple. * There may be a possible blockage of the vent terminal. Check the vent terminal for any obstructions that could be recycling the flue gases.

What to do if pilot will not stay lit on my Vermont Castings LHER20?
    • C
      Christopher MatthewsAug 19, 2025
If the pilot light won't stay lit on your Vermont Castings Indoor Fireplace after following the lighting instructions, here's what you can check: * Check the pilot flame to ensure it impinges on the thermocouple/thermopile. This pilot burner assembly uses both a thermocouple and a thermopile. Clean and/or adjust the pilot for maximum flame impingement on the thermopile and thermocouple. * Turn the valve knob to 'Pilot' and maintain flow to the pilot. A millivolt meter should read greater than 10 mV. If the reading is okay and the pilot does not stay on, replace the gas valve. Note: An interrupter block (not supplied) must be used to conduct this test.

How to fix a Vermont Castings Indoor Fireplace spark ignitor that will not light?
    • J
      Jimmy KramerAug 25, 2025
If the spark ignitor on your Vermont Castings Indoor Fireplace isn't lighting, here are a couple of things to check: * Light the pilot using a match. If it lights, turn off the pilot and push the red button again. If the pilot still won't light, check the gap at the electrode and pilot. There should be a 1/8" gap to ensure a strong spark. * Push the Piezo Ignitor Button and check for a spark at the electrode and pilot. If there's no spark and the electrode wire is properly connected, you may need to replace the ignitor.

Why does my Vermont Castings Indoor Fireplace have frequent pilot outage problem?
    • C
      Christopher WattsAug 31, 2025
Frequent pilot outages in your Vermont Castings Indoor Fireplace can occur because the pilot flame may be too low or too high, causing the pilot safety to drop out. To resolve this, clean and/or adjust the pilot flame to ensure maximum flame impingement on both the thermopile and thermocouple. Another potential cause is a blockage of the vent terminal, which can recycle flue gases. Inspect the vent terminal for any obstructions.

What to do if the pilot will not stay lit in my Vermont Castings Indoor Fireplace?
    • A
      Andrew MoralesSep 4, 2025
If the pilot light won't stay lit in your Vermont Castings Indoor Fireplace after following the lighting instructions, the issue might be a defective pilot generator (thermocouple) or a problem with the remote wall switch. Ensure the pilot flame impinges properly on the thermocouple/thermopile. This pilot burner assembly uses both a thermocouple and a thermopile. Clean and/or adjust the pilot for maximum flame impingement on the thermopile and thermocouple. Another potential cause is a defective automatic valve. Turn the valve knob to “Pilot” and maintain flow to the pilot; a milivolt meter should read greater than 10 mV. If the reading is okay and the pilot still doesn’t stay on, replace the gas valve.

How to fix spark ignitor that will not light on Vermont Castings LHER20 Indoor Fireplace?
    • J
      Jason HamiltonSep 8, 2025
If the spark ignitor on your Vermont Castings Indoor Fireplace isn't lighting, it could be due to a defective or misaligned electrode at the pilot. Try lighting the pilot with a match. If it lights, turn off the pilot and push the red button again. If the pilot still won't light, check the gap at the electrode and pilot; it should be 1/8" to ensure a strong spark. Another cause could be a defective ignitor (push button). Push the Piezo Ignitor Button and check for a spark at the electrode and pilot. If there's no spark and the electrode wire is properly connected, replace the ignitor.

What to do if my Vermont Castings LHER20 pilot is burning but no gas to main burner?
    • M
      Mr. James RichardsonNov 11, 2025
If the pilot light is on but the main burner isn't receiving gas in your Vermont Castings Indoor Fireplace, consider these potential causes and solutions: * Check the wall switch and wires for proper connections. You can use a jumper wire across the terminals at the wall switch; if the burner comes on, replace the defective wall switch. If it's still not working, try jumper wires across the wall switch wires at the valve. If the burner then comes on, the wires are faulty, or the connections are bad. * Ensure wire connections from the thermopile at the gas valve terminals are tight and the thermopile is fully inserted into the pilot bracket. Also, one of the wall switch wires may be grounded. Remove wall switch wires from valve terminals; if the pilot now stays lit, trace the wall swit...

What to do if pilot burning but no gas to main burner in Vermont Castings Indoor Fireplace?
    • E
      Eric CharlesNov 27, 2025
If the pilot light is on but the main burner isn't receiving gas, here's what you can check: * Inspect the wall switch and wiring for secure connections. You can bypass the wall switch by using a jumper wire across its terminals. If the burner ignites, the wall switch is defective and needs replacement. If it doesn't help, try using jumper wires across the wall switch wires at the valve; if the burner then comes on, the wires are faulty or the connections are bad. * Ensure the thermopile wire connections at the gas valve terminals are secure and that the thermopile is fully inserted into the pilot bracket. Also, one of the wall switch wires may be grounded. If removing the wall switch wires from the valve terminals allows the pilot to stay lit, trace the wall switch wiring for a groun...
