Why won't the pilot light stay lit on my Vermont Castings LHECDV30 Indoor Fireplace?
    • J
      Julie TaylorJul 31, 2025
If the pilot light on your Vermont Castings Indoor Fireplace won't stay lit after you've followed the lighting instructions, there could be a few reasons. One possibility is a defective pilot generator (thermocouple) or remote wall switch. Make sure the pilot flame is properly hitting the thermocouple/thermopile. Try cleaning or adjusting the pilot for the best flame impingement on both the thermopile and thermocouple. Another cause could be a defective automatic valve. In this case, turn the valve knob to 'Pilot' and check that the milivolt meter reads above 10 mV while maintaining flow to the pilot. If the reading is good but the pilot still won't stay on, the gas valve may need to be replaced. Note: An interrupter block (not supplied) must be used to conduct this test.

Why does my Vermont Castings LHECDV30 Indoor Fireplace have frequent pilot outage problem?

If you're having frequent pilot outages with your Vermont Castings Indoor Fireplace, it could be due to a few reasons. The pilot flame might be too low or too high, causing the pilot safety to drop out. Try cleaning and adjusting the pilot flame to make sure it hits the thermopile and thermocouple properly. Another possible cause is a blockage in the vent terminal. Check the vent terminal to ensure it's not blocked, as this can recycle flue gases.

How to fix spark ignitor that will not light on Vermont Castings LHECDV30?
    • C
      Christina AndersonAug 21, 2025
If the spark ignitor on your Vermont Castings Indoor Fireplace isn't lighting, it could be due to a defective or misaligned electrode at the pilot. Try lighting the pilot with a match. If it lights, turn off the pilot and push the red button again. If the pilot still won't light, check the gap at the electrode and pilot; it should be 1/8" to have a strong spark. Another possibility is a defective ignitor (push button). Push the piezo ignitor button and check for a spark at the electrode and pilot. If there's no spark and the electrode wire is properly connected, replace the ignitor.

What to do if pilot is burning but no gas to main burner on Vermont Castings LHECDV30?
    • C
      christinapetersonNov 6, 2025
If your Vermont Castings Indoor Fireplace pilot is burning, but no gas is going to the main burner, several things could be happening. First, the wall switch or its wires could be defective. Check the switch and wires for good connections. You can bypass the wall switch by using a jumper wire across the terminals. If the burner then comes on, the wall switch is faulty and needs replacement. If that's not it, try jumping the wires across the wall switch wires at the valve; if the burner comes on, the wires or connections are the problem. Another possibility is that the thermopile isn't generating enough millivoltage. Ensure the wire connections from the thermopile to the gas valve terminals are tight and that the thermopile is fully inserted into the pilot bracket. Also, one of the wall swi...
