BRIEF OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
14-23651-09-02
1. The Versalift may only be operated by persons above 18 years of age that have received instruction in
its use, and have read and understood the Operator's Manual.
2. When operating the Versalift, the procedures laid down in the Operator's Manual must be adhered to,
as must provisions and regulations imposed by national and local authorities.
3. Never allow an unauthorized person to operate the Versalift.
4. Never make any compromises with regard to inspection and safety.
5. Set the parking brake and shift the vehicle transmission to neutral before commencing operation with
the Versalift.
6. The Versalift must stand on firm and level ground for operation. Do not operate the Versalift on a
slope greater than the inclination specified on the machine plate.
7. Engage the hydraulic pump (PTO or fan-belt driven) and turn on warning lights and beacons.
8. Deploy outriggers (if so equipped) onto firm ground before commencing operation with the Versalift. If
the Versalift is provided with an axle lock, this must be engaged. For a Versalift without outriggers, or
to be used in a restricted work envelope without outriggers, the wheels must be chocked.
9. The selector switch between upper and lower controls must stand in the upper control position.
10. Check that the emergency stops at both upper and lower control stations are in the released position
(not activated).
11. The platform access door must be firmly closed after entering the platform and a personal restraint
system must be worn at all times.
12. The maximum permissible slope for lift operation is normally 5° for the Versalift. For the slope
permitted the specific unit, refer to the machine plate.
13. Do not operate the Versalift at wind speeds greater than 12.5 m/sec. If the wind speed exceeds this,
then cease operation and stow the unit.
14. The maximum rated load capacity of the Versalift, which is declared on the machine plate, must not be
exceeded. The maximum permissible manual force must not be exceeded. This is 200 N for one-man
platforms and 400 N for two-man platforms. Never use the Versalift as a crane.
15. During operation of the Versalift, initiate and terminate all movements softly. Any approach of the
platform towards obstacles should always be done slowly and with caution. The platform must never
collide with obstacles as that involves serious hazards.
16. THIS AERIAL LIFT IS ONLY INSULATED FOR VOLTAGE UP TO 1 kV. Note that dirt, foreign
substances and moisture may degrade the insulating properties of the Versalift.
17. Standard EN 50110-1 (Operation of Electrical Installations) specifies minimum safety distances to live
electrical lines and equipment (refer to table below). Additionally, there may be local requirements that
must be observed.
Nominal Voltage 1 - 110 kVMinimum Safety Clearance 3 m
Nomina Voltage 110 - 220 kVMinimum Safety Clearance 4 m
Nominal VoltageAbove 220 kVMinimum Safety Clearance 5 m
